“The Name Says it All” Just Outstanding has an orange amber body that combines a zesty and bitter characteristic, a generous malty taste and an exquisite floral aroma – Oh yeah, this beer is really hoppy too! This sturdy ale has 7.5% alcohol and twice the malt and hops of a Pale Ale. If you like a strong IPA, you’ll find this beer

Bottle - Thanks IrishBoy! Pours a slightly hazy butterscotch amber with a medium off-white head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is mango, citrus, pine. Flavor is about the same, nicely tropical with mango and passionfruit notes. Light sweetness and light bitterness, Creamy, almost oily mouthfeel. Crisp light to medium bitter finish that leaves you wanting more. This is a good one.

Pours a nice orangy golden color with a couple fingers of foam. Nice fresh hop aromas of citrus and some floral grassy notes. On the palate its well balanced and a pleasure to drink . Nice grapefruit and a touch of tight piney grassy bits. My favorite thing about this IPA is the mouthfeel. Nice touch of carbonation on the front, full creamy mid palate and a clean bitter finish.

Big thanks to mrmiles for this unexpected extra! A: Pours a hop-hazed amber/orange color with a massive massive fluffy eggshell color cap. Retention is as good as it gets. Absolutely awesome looking beer. S: My favorite kind of IPA...Sweet tropical fruit and citrus aromas with lots of orange, grapefruit, mango, and tons of pineapple. Slight pine and resin as well, but less apparent. T: Exceptionally balanced flavor with malts giving some caramel sweetness, and the hops give a solid bitterness. The flavor is really light and delicate, but packs a punch. Similar to Sculpin in that sense. The hops are very fruity- orange, lemon, grapefruit, pear, apricot, mango, and pineapple. Simply awesome...I live for these kind of IPAs. The yeast also adds a faint butter flavor. MF/D: Medium body, very smooth and creamy going down. Carbonation is perfect and really compliments the hops. Notes: Second beer from Kern River, with CITRA as my first. Both beers earned near perfect scores, and well deserving. Thanks again Miles!

22 oz. bottle served in a Great Divide footed ale glass. Big thanks to SupoenaDeuces (Alex) for the hook up! A: Pours a chilled amber color with golden straw hues around the edges. A thick and creamy pure white head forms on pour. It sits over one inch in height and very slowly recedes down the glass leaving huge sticky sheets of lace behind. S: Leafy green hops, mild citrus rinds, some juicy mango and some sweet caramel malts. T: Grassy hops with some light fruity undertones are up front. The mid-palate is more of a bitter pine that is layered on a mildly sweet malty body that carries on into the finish. Overall the hops are the most dominant. M: Medium to light bodied with nice carbonation. Very refreshing. O: It’s very hop forward and the malt basically take a back seat, but it’s still a really good beer. There is definitely a lot of flavor packed into this light and refreshing IPA. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-06-2012

Bottle shared by Dogbrick. Clear orange-amberish color with a thin off-white head. Citrusy orange nose with grapefruit peel notes. Malty flavor with orange peel and grapefruit character before a grassy hop finish.

22oz bottle, fresh from the Citra release. pours a hazy, pale gold capped by a fluffy white head that leaves sticky sheets of lace. aroma is great with heavy grapefruit, orange rind, pine needles, and soapy florals with notes of lemon oil, toast, burnt grass as it opens up. flavor is delicious with subtle tropical notes of pineapple and apricot sneaking in amongst the citrus notes of pink grapefruit and lemon zest with bitter pine and a touch of sweet, caramel malts rounding out the back end. palate is medium bodied with smooth carbonation and a lingering, bitter, citrus finish. overall, a damn nice ipa.

Dark golden copperish pour with an off white head. Aroma is filled with citrus and tropical fruits. Noticeable hoppiness and bitterness. Definitely a nice IPA.

Shared at my tasting on August 7, 2010. A: This beer appears a slightly hazy shade of yellow. There is a small head that leaves just a touch of lacing on the glass. S: The aromas are wonderful citrus, mostly grapefruit. Hooray hops! T: A wonderful beer, and what I look for in an IPA. Citrus fruits with a pleasant, hoppy bitterness make this such an enjoyable beverage. Between this and Citra, Kern is 2 for 2 in the IPA department, as far as I see it. M: A really nice feel. Bitterness from the hops without any astringency. Alcohol hidden well behind the bouquet. D: Wonderfully drinkable. What a nice way to kick off the tasting.
