4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 dukeredhair (234) - California, USA - DEC 8, 2012Appearance is straw gold with almost no head on pour at brewery. Aroma is HUGE hops, citrus, grapefruits, grass, bit of weed. Taste is sweet hops with a nice smooth bitterness and a nice malty sweet backbone. Palate is thin and dry making this really refreshing. Overall another great DIPA from Kern River.

Bomber purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar ($7.99). Pours a hazy orange-amber color with two fingers of white foam that leaves some good lacing. Aroma of sweet tangerine, zesty grapefruit, oily herbs, spring lawnmowing, and some wet pine. Flavor of a nice fruit medley (I get peach, mango, tangerine, perhaps some apricot), honey, caramel, and some spicy earthy hops. Well balanced and not particularly bitter. The tropical fruit elements here make me think of this more as a summer ale rather than a winter ale. The hopmasters at Kern River do it again! (71, 780)

Bottle share at Hunaphu Day. Orange pour with a fluffy white head. Standard IPA aroma subdued floral, piney and citrus hops with bready malt backing. Spruce and spicy hop character, minerals with hints of citrus and sweet malt backing. Not bad, just nothing distinguishable.

Bottle - thanks IrishBoy! Pours hazy amber with a small white head and decent lacing. Aroma is not strong - spruce, pine, citrus. Flavor is about the same, lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Medium body, some oilyness. A solid entry, but doesn’t really rise above the pack.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 barn0216 (218) - California, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Hazy orange, not much foam but it sticks to the glass. Faint aroma, citrus is my initial impression. Flavor is lightly bitter, more of a resinous character. Pleasant drinking beer but nothing outrageous - drinks more like a pale ale.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Sample at a weekly bottle sharing event at Red House BBQ in Tehachapi, CA on 02/02/2013. The beer pours a clear dark golden color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, biscuit malt and pine. Medium-bodied with flavors of piney hops, grapefruit and bready malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering citrusy hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

From a 22 oz bottle shared with friends. Pours a hazy orange copper with a quickly receding thick white head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Lovely flavors of orange zest, biscuit, pine and grapefruit. Bitter finish but not intense. Very nice DIPA.

From bomber. Pours orange copper with a modest off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a dry bitter finish. Nice hop profile.
