| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2009 Heavy mouthfeel but done well, with a great balance and not a touch of bitterness to it. It actually doesn’t display much character at all, but is quenching thanks to the heavy palate and it finishes with a just a subtle sweet chocolate note to it. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

i can’t get butterscotch out of my head as i am smelling this... buttery malt, toasted nuts and faint smoke make up the aroma.
add notes of cacoa nib and coffee to aroma list to make up the flavor.
thin to medium bodied. slick feeling turns watery as it sits. 6/3/6/2.5/12/2.95 irish1984 (4), Montana, USA does not count | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 7, 2009 16oz can into glass. pours cloudy dark brown with some red highlights as well. head dissappeared quickly and left a white ring. smell is malty, no hops here! taste is malty with a little nuttiness also. but malt is the defining charachteristic. a little more smoke flavor would have made it perfect. slight coffee on the finish. im lucky that i live in missoula where its brewed to i can enjoy it often. ditmier (1074), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 25, 2009 Updated: Jul 27, 2009 11/14/2007 and 1/29/2008: Kettle House Cold Smoke Scotch Style Ale is dark brown, clean, and nearly opaque. The small, foamy, tan-colored head collapses to leave a lasting veil. The aroma is a bit faint and has some caramelized malt and hints of smoke. This beer is subtly complex and moderately sweet. It is malty all-around with caramelized and roasted malts, hints of chocolate, dry smoke, and a slightly dry finish. It has a medium-body and is ultra smooth and extremely balanced. This is a decent scotch-style (not quite a true Scotch Ale) beer overall.
One pint cans (Best by: Aug 30, 2007) from kyzr via trade in September 2006. Thanks Mitch! Rating #50 for this beer.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Tallboy can. Poured a dark ruby-amber color, tan head, some lacing. Aroma was malted barley, smoky too. Flavor was malty, but crisp, with a subtle smokiness and an earthy finish. A good scotch ale.
