Beer_Hawk (759), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA May 4, 2008 Can. Poured orange in color with a thin white head that settles to a ring quickly. Caramel aroma with a hoppy background. The flavor is a nice IPA mix of hops and malts. Light to medium body. (Rating from June ’07)
doubleo (825), San Diego, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 16oz can from kyzr. Pours clearish amber with a moderate sized, white head, some lace. Smells malty sweet nutty with some grassy hops. Tastes sweet malty but with a nice balance of bitter citrus hops on the finish. Lingering bitterness. Medium body, crisp carbonation. blazingspiral (18), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Sep 9, 2008 on tap at the Iron Horse in Missoula, MT.
deep gold/amber, slightly hazy, with a frothy head.
it smelled bitter, but the aroma lacked the artful fruity or floral notes of a superb IPA.
taste was satisfying, with strong hops. balance was a little off -- it could have used a sweeter malt base -- but it really hit home for a hophead such as myself.
some lime and grapefruit flavors attempted to assert themselves. overall, the bitterness had a more earthy, herbal quality.
as the pint diminished, the bitter finish continued to assault my palate. if you like that sort of thing, then definitely try this brew when visiting beautiful Montana.
it’s also cool that they can this brew, and I look forward to tasting it that way. ogglethorp (800), Ohio, USA Sep 8, 2008 Can via trade with Kyzr. Pours a coppery color with an off white head. Aroma is citrus, caramel, pine. Flavor is much the same. Medium body, medium carbonation, finished bitter. Decent. unclemattie (1620), Georgia, USA Sep 4, 2008 29 mar 08. 16oz can. deep golden color, white head. Pine aroma. Sweet taste. Lots of honey. Light, but nice bitterness. hopealicia (3), Missoula, Montana, USA does not count Aug 24, 2008 From the Brewery: Missoula, MT. A great overall flavor and a lasting aftertaste. Has a good head that is off white in color. A strong aroma but not too strong to overpower the taste. A tad malty and very bitter hops, great alcohol percentage! One of my favorites!
