3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, USA - JUL 19, 2007
On draught at the brewery’s taproom in Missoula, Montana. Pours a clear golden pale brew with a bubbly thin white head that dissolves quickly to a white ring. Aroma of dry bready malt, some light grassy and flowery hops with a touch of herbal spice. Taste is lightly carbonated, with light bread malt flavor with some dry bitterness. Finish is slightly sweet then turns to a dry bitterness in the aftertaste. Not as citrusy hoppiness has most other pale ales but very drinkable.

On tap at southside taproom. Pours hazy gold with one finger of white head. Aroma is full of citrus hops and hemp oil/seed. Flavor is leaning towards hops, some nice pine notes. Hemp comes through a little. Super smooth and drinkable. Nice variation from your standard pale.

From a can (thanks Wade’s World) Light colored pale ale with a small white head. Not much lacing. Grainy and crisp. MIld hoppy presence like many Bavarian lagers. Good beer. Very quaffable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BückDich (5467) - McCall, Idaho, USA - MAY 3, 2006
Draught at the The Rhino, Missoula, MT: Pours a hazy orange blonde color with a thin white head. The nose isn’t very hoppy, a bit musky in the hops with some husky pale malts, but that’s about it. You can taste the sweetness and bitterness in the flavor but it doesn’t conjur up any good memories about hop lore or other good pale ales. A bit light and thin, lacking in hop punch and easy drinking. This may be more suited to a beer with lunch at work, certainly not in a smoky loud bar after a spicy dinner and many beer tastings.
