COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2010 Limited Edition. Our "Old Urbana Barley Wine Ale" is a very full bodied, dark amber colour ale with a full rich, creamy head. A great aging beer, this rich barley wine ale will mellow in flavor over time. With a complex bouquet of sweet dark cherry from malt, it’s hops bitterness from Centennial Hops, and the finish flavor of the Cascade hops. Let this one age, best after 11/2011. Built in 1880, the side wheeler "Urbana" was ordered by Chalres W. Drake for the Keuka Lake Navigation Company. This passenger "steamer" was 120’ long, with a 20’ beam. It was captained first by Allen Wood, succeeded by Oscar Morse. The Urbana was dismantled in Hammondsport in 1904.

A reddish copper barley wine with a thick lacing mocha head. In aroma, a musty vinous malt with herbal notes, earthy, nice floral hops. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt, treacle, floral hops with grapefruits pulp, more like a DIPA, but nice. Tasted with Pushkinnow, Spinrsx, Brews Phillips, CFrancis and Ian, Jan. 14 2011, Bartowel Ottawa gathering. Thanks Ian.

Tasted at the First ever Ottawa Tasting. Pours a slight orange amber with a thin white ring. Aroma is slight pine hop, dark fruit and malt. Taste is a nice complexity of barely, malt, dark fruit polished with a great light citrus hop. Very nice.
