Aug 27, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a somewhat transparent, blackish color with coppery hues and a thin layer of fizzy off-white head. Mild banana and clove in the aroma, but a strange metallica roast malt aroma dominates. Light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. Thin palate with little malt flavor, but lots of dark malt husky astringency. A bit of metallic character up front as well, which further detracts. Astringent dark malts with very minimal banana or clove phenolic contribution to the beer, leaving this an unpleasant dark malt mess.
