2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Dogbrick (4843) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 8, 2011
This brew pours a clear amber-brown color with a medium foamy light beige head that dissipates slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Tasted malt and grain in the nose. Light to medium body with sweet malt and brown sugar flavors and low amounts of hops in the background. The finish is short and malty and leaves a touch of grassy hops behind. Fairly one-dimensional and frankly kind of boring overall.

Lift Bridge Brown is an American Brown Ale, named after the double-decker bridge that connects Houghton and Hancock on the Keweenaw Peninsula, which extends north into Lake Superior. It’s a solid brown in color, with a thinner body than I’d expect, and it was overcarbonated in the can that I poured. There’s a touch of chocolate on the roof of the palate, but with a softer finish and dryness on the sides of the tongue, it reminded me a bit of a Bell’s Amber Ale. The bittering hops were slightly out of balance due to a lack of sweetness, particularly for a brown, although the body opens up a bit as it warms. All and all, it’s not a bad effort and a average effort.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 crackedmachine (303) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 20, 2011
Pours a transparent red-brown with a foamy tan head. Malty, grainy aroma with maybe a slight hint of chocolate. Flavor is sweet and malty, but well balanced with a bit of nut, caramel, and a light hop touch. Light-bodied and easy to drink. Enjoyable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 triguy84 (235) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 26, 2010
Pours a dark brown with red hues and a whispy head. Light biscuit/malt aroma. Light nut, caramel flavor. Light-medium body with a bitter hop finish. This is not a Fat Tire, which is good. It’s an ok brown ale.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Onslow (714) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - OCT 10, 2010
Pour from a 12 oz can. Slightly clouds dark brwon boy with a light tan head. Nice malty aroma. Flavor is dominated by maltiness that manages to avoid being oiverly sweet. Pleasant toasted malts, dark fruit, and maybe cola flavors. Just the right amount of hops to balnace out the finish. A very solid brown ale.

MBGSF 2010 Can. Poured clear dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and smal hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 GJF (1006) - Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA - JUL 15, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Nice dark ruby pour, but kind of watery with a harsh finish. I like that it’s more hoppy than the style generally is, but I found it harsh.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nuplastikk (2615) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 30, 2010
12oz can. Thick, unfiltered burgundy-brown. Steady, fluffy beige head. Smooth, on the fuller side of medium-bodied. A pretty solid brown ale, really captures the essence of the style. Sweet and nutty, with just a faint hop balance. A pleasant malty mouthfeel, without excessive sticky specialty malt characteristics. Well done.
