awaisanen (1123), Irvine, California, USA Dec 27, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Dark black, somewhat translucent pour with some ruddy tones and an off-white layer of bubbly head. Slightly malty aromas with some raw tobacco edges. Light bodied, highly carbonated mouthfeel. Some sour malt flavors blend together in a thin, bland mess. Some tannic malt flavors come through that taste like the really light grain water that comes out of the mashtun after sparging is complete and the wort to be boiled is removed. Hmmm... its not boiled for a reason... not a winner. CharlesDarwin (1356), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2006 This beer had to be an accident. I can’t believe it was on tap. Even people who hardly drink many micros or have developed palates for beer, knew this was bad. It poured a blackish brown, with mahogany edges and no head. The aroma was not really there. Something of ice and snow, or maybe some freezer crust. But nothing you’d look for in a beer. Flavor was a similiar. It was a vapid hole of flavorless water/alcohol. There may have been some sugars, but there certainly wasn’t any flavor. Instead, way too much carbonation and a light sour sensation that made this an absolute drain pour. Anyone (and I mean anyone, including people who make beer from those no boil kits in their kitchen so they think they can get cheap lager) should be embarassed to have created this.
