Thin and bland, lightly roasted with a touch of cola. Dull palate and rather metallic. Bleh.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 GT2 (5661) - Riverslime, California, USA - APR 7, 2012
12oz can. Deep brown pour with small tan foam to a little layer. Super sweet nose with vegetal DMS and big black olive. Taste is tangy, over carbonated, dry wood shavings, vegetal oddities. Powdery, mealy apple palate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 emeinz (220) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 23, 2012
I definitely enjoyed this beer. Roasty notes with a bit of sweetness. A little bit of smokiness. Dark black pour with small off white head. Moderate carbonation with medium body. Slightly smokey taste with easy finish. I think i may like this beer more than most, but the price is right and the beer is pretty good for what it is,
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 KickInChalice (842) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2012
From notes. First reviewed 12/3/2011. Served on tap in a pint glass at Lockhart’s BBQ.
The beer is a dark brown color with a ruby tint in the edges. A small off-white film is all that exists for a head.
Light roasted malts, slightly bitter with some caramel sweetness. The aroma is very light.
The flavor is mellow roasted malt with some milky sweet chocolate. Metallic and a bit of citrus toward the end. Fairly flat flavor with not much hop presence at the end.
This has crisp carbonation but a mild flavor, resulting in a watery sensation. The body is on the light side.
I ordered this because I am a fan of American Black Ales, but this barely qualifies for the category. It tastes like a boring over-carbonated porter or something.

Can. Dark brown, light thin head. Mild roasty aroma. Not much taste and with a light finish. Palate is pretty thin.

Draft @ Lockhart’s BBQ. Advertised as a Black Ale. Really nothing special here, but nothign terrible here. I’ve just had a lot better beers in this category.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 flatmatt (872) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - OCT 13, 2011
12 oz can. Pours black with deep red highlights and a light tan head. Mineral aroma with traces of dark fruit or brown sugar. Very light flavor, brown sugar and dark fruit are sensed first, but mostly I get toasted biscuit. Bits of apple flavors. Okay, but pretty light.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PaulUnwin (85) - Pinellas Park, Florida, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Not a great beer, no hops or bitterness, in fact not a great flavour at all, an okay beer, but wouldn’t push to the bar for one!
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scott_Snyder (27) - USA - AUG 23, 2011
Nice color, so so aroma. Very little head, though there appeared to be plenty of carbonation. Some yeast sediment throughout the beer. Just a little too sweet even for a schwarzbier.
