4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a beautiful black with a creamy tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is malty, I canít put my finger on what else I taste but itís good, no hops detected. Palate is medium bodied, very smooth. Overall this is a great beer, the best one Iíve had from Keweenaw. Very smooth, very black, very good.

Jet black in color with a brownish white head. Smells sweet and a little chocolate. First taste is sweet and smokey with a malty after taste. Really great beer to just drink.

Aroma is light roasted malt, metallic, nutty. Appearance is brown, light, light brown head. Taste is light roasted malt, metallic, nutty, not much else. Mouthfeel is light, somewhat thick carbonation, like oatmeal. Overall, meh. I didnít expect much and didnít get much.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can to pint. Looks solid; a hazy darker brown with lighter beige head. Smells of dark malt with mild notes of toast and molasses. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Not bad, but forgettable.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Canned. Pours black, with an off-white almost grey head. Definitely not pitch black, almost has a ruby element in its color. Aroma is caramel malt, molasses, just malt for days. Roasted but not too much. Flavor is sweet caramel, molasses and a light toffee note. Solid example of the style. I kinda like it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample on tap at Wurst Bar (MI). Clear red brown color. Thicker khaki head. Some decent bits of lace. Decent chocolate; toastiness. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Touch of smoke-savory. mild bitterness. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Light carbonation. Mild dry finish. Solid satisfyingly mildly smoked scharzbier.

Exactly what the info says. I donít like dark beers and usually stay away from anything that even looks dark. I tried this beer first in a can and was very happy. Then ordered it somewhere and out came this dark looking beer. I was shocked! It was what I asked for. This beer is really good and as a girl from the Michigan living in the upper peninsula, I am proud of my state. This beer is great. Try some other kewenaw beers too.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
10/10/2014: Keweenaw Widow Maker Black Ale... Dark brown, opaque color with a frothy tan-colored head. Aroma is dusty with some coal, dark malts, and roasted fruits. The flavor starts dry and slightly roasty with some caramel and gets more fruity (cooked apples) as the beer warms. Medium-body; mostly smooth. Decent, but nothing special. Best when served COLD. Seems to be a better beer to cook with rather than drink since it goes well in roasts, chili, etc. based on my experiences with both drinking it and cooking with it.
