Nice, easy drinkin’ ale. Some light caramel in the malt, especially at the sweet finish. Could use a little more hops for balance.

Got to try this one out in the Ft. Lauderdale airport while waiting for a flight. Gotta say, I was pretty darn impressed. Nicely balanced hops, a little fruity... a pretty good beer.

An exellent beer. It really is nice on a hot key west evening, plus its dirt cheap and on tap like everywhere down there.
2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 delacerveza (157) - Florida, USA - AUG 21, 2002
when i first tried this, i really enjoyed it. subsequent tastings didn’t live up to my initial response though. it has a nice, sort of light raisiny aftertaste and is quite drinkable. i buy it when i can find it, but not if there is anything remotely better in the aisle at that time.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Admiral (524) - Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 19, 2002
Rerate: I tried this on draft twice in the Keys on vacation, and found it to be much more pleasant than before, a decent semi-hoppy blond ale that’s good with seafood. Also I just read that they stopped artificially softening the water supply at Key West in May.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Aurelius (3445) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 2, 2002
Peachy-gold, good head, overdone label, screw-off cap, so I dinged it for appearance. Fair body and palate. Slightly tart, mellow/sweet middle with somewhat eggy(?) finish. Fair to slightly above average fare.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jcalbi (378) - New Jersey, USA - APR 9, 2002
Color is somewhere between straw and amber. Moderate body with a thickish and creamy head. Somehat flowery aroma. A rather cloying, chalky mouthfeel with a long lasting bitterness. An ever so slightly above average ale.

I can remember the greatest lunch I ever ate in my life - in a bar in Key West called ’Two Friends Bar’.
This was the ale I had with my superb seafood platter. Does that inflate my rating? Probably, but this was an excellent ale!
Recommended.

Reminded me of a pale ale - good taste, good color.

About the only good thing about going to a Jimmy Buffet restaurant. I would have guessed it was a Pale Ale based on the color and flavor, but then again I don’t know much about American Blonds. Anyway, it went well in the Florida setting, and I think they hit the nail on the head in the marketing department, because I can definitely see sitting on a beach watching the sunset with one of these.
