Bottle courtesy of daknole. Pours amber with a thin white head. Smells of sweet malt, oranges, doughy. Tastes earthy with a weird citrussy aftertaste.

taste: amber malt, and a clinging coppery and nitrate-like minerality.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2009 On tap at Sloppy Joe’s (Florida Keys, FL): Roasted malts, coriander, pepper... It’s refreshing and will do the job for a hot, scalding day, but I’m in the mist of hurricane season right now and could use some hops other than this watered down, sour, bitter, fizzy, p.o.s. #111 on 05092009, DG.

Barely drinkable swill, only outpaced by another beer I had on vacation in the Keys, Harpoon’s UFO.

Explain to me how a "key west" beer is contract brewed in New York? Stuff sucked. I had a pint while waiting for a plane at the miami airport, was awful. Not hoppy at all, as advertised, and the malt profile was quite flat. Looks like a budweiser, but not as tasty, if you can believe that. Little malt nose, then a bit of carmel malt in the body, but that’s it. Do not buy.

I was most unimpressed with this brew. It was very very light and slightly skunked. Nothing stood out at all as far as flavors go. Hops? Ummm NO. The bottled version of this was about as good as bootie light and that is not good in case you needed to know.

Bottle... Clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Smells of stale perspiration, overripe, fallen, sun-baked fuzzy fruit and barely roasted malt. Overall, the nose is pretty unpleasant. Well-balanced flavor, but very boring with touches of oxidization and inappropriate tanginess. Light to medium-bodied and spritzy. Short, crisp, dry finish. Run, don’t walk, away from this one!

Tap in a plastic cup from a hut on the square where all the street performers perform in Key West. Pours cloudy amber with a watery grain aroma. Watery copper flavor is only accentuated by the watery mouthfeel. May the sun set quickly on this mess.

One of the least remarkable beers I have ever been served. It is offered everywhere in Miami, perhaps I’ll switch to wine? Nice tall glass, and it does feel good in the hand.
