3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2007
BCA (from Bitter Virtue, BB Aug 07). Good balance between strawy hops and clean but falvoursome biscuity bready malts. Very drinkable and definitely one I’ll try on cask when I see it. Suprisingly well bottled for a new brewer and with improved quality compared to the beers I tried shortly after they had opened.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear. Reddish chestnut colour with bubbly beige head. Nutty/toffee aroma. Crackers on aroma too. Bit of candy sugar and more nuts in the mouth. End could do with a bit more flavour. No great hop presence. Fine.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Pigs Ear BF. An amber coloured beer with a decent off-white coloured head. The aroma is malty with biscuits and crackers to the fore. This is replicated in the crunchy taste. Bready flavours also. Very nice.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 31 July) Colour is dark amber with frothu head. Nose is malty and nutty with notes of dried fruit (prunes). Taste is malty, nutty with notes of dried fruit (arpicots, prunes) and a long bitter finish with a well balanced hoppy character. Nothing fancy, but very nice.
