Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear. Reddish chestnut colour with bubbly beige head. Nutty/toffee aroma. Crackers on aroma too. Bit of candy sugar and more nuts in the mouth. End could do with a bit more flavour. No great hop presence. Fine.

A Mes rate:
Gravicask @ Reading Beer Festival. Dark golden colour, almost amber. Surprising roasted malt nose. Tarty malt flavour that is not particularly refined. Could have been much better.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006. Amber colour. Clammy, slightly raw malt aroma. Slightly fruity aroma. No great hop presence. Thin mouthfeel. Anonymous standard bitter and didn’t seem in great shape - possibly rather green. Flagged for re-rate.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Pigs Ear BF. An amber coloured beer with a decent off-white coloured head. The aroma is malty with biscuits and crackers to the fore. This is replicated in the crunchy taste. Bready flavours also. Very nice.

Cask (Pullman, Helsinki)
Orangy, thin head. Sharp slightly fruity and sour and nutty malty aroma. Mild carbonation. Taste is also sharp, and powerfully malty - raw and sour mashy. Also got hints of nuttiness and even some ginger. Pukka Best, back to the style of the 80s or before. Tasty and refreshing.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 31 July) Colour is dark amber with frothu head. Nose is malty and nutty with notes of dried fruit (prunes). Taste is malty, nutty with notes of dried fruit (arpicots, prunes) and a long bitter finish with a well balanced hoppy character. Nothing fancy, but very nice.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 downender (4389) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 19, 2008
Cask-conditioned at the summer beer festival, The Royal Oak, Bath 19/7/08. This was too sweet for me. Amber coloured with a decent, off-white head. Big caramel and red fruit aroma. Flavour was sweet, with some graininess, toffee and a short bitter finish. No more than ok.
