Miss a few and you just gotta keep going. I’m on a roll though, but reaching the bottom of the hill. This was good, not so Quaddy more dubbelly, lacking the bite and immense flavour expected from Quads. Cheers.

Pours dark copper color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, mild alcohol, caramel and toffee. Flavour of brown sugar, molasses, ripe fruits, caramel and some dark berries. Some mild alcohol throughput. Decent.

Bottle from Belgium Beers, Antwerp, as Strandjuttersbier Mong de Vos, bb 23Aug2013
Dark brown color with dark red shades; medium sized creamy head. Strong aroma of sweet caramel and overripe fruits. Full bodied; sweet caramel flavor, with mild pleasant fruitiness; the bitterness is low.
Easy, a bit boring.

Bottle from Asahiya. Thick, wine-like aroma, some sour fruit notes, grapes. Deep brown color, with some ruby tints. Smacking sweet initial / mid is sugary, juicy, and tinged with streams of light chocolate / finish is mild and warming. Medium body. Not really an abt/quad. More like a very solid tripel mixed with a Flanders red. Alc. is gentle and well hidden. Like it a lot.

Tasted at La Trappe in Oakland. Very dark brown with a large creamy head. Tastes a little of cherries, lightly sweet and full bodied. Sweet fruit hop aroma. A touch syrupy, but tasty.

Bottle: Almost clear,reddish-amber coloured, stable creamy tanned head with a little lace, dried black berries and a delicate warm touch of alcohol in the sweet caramelly nose; moderate sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a creamy MF; sweet-fruity and slightly alcoholic finish. Pretty pleasant at first sight, but all in all too sweet and monotonous…

Bottle 33 cl. Pours dark brown in color with foamy tan head. Dark fruits, plums and raisins, some vinous notes and dry wood in aroma. Raisins in taste, portvine vibes as well, some wooden barrels in taste. Classy. A bit too much carbonated perhaps. Brown sugar, more ripe dark fruits and maltyness in finish. Some beers require some ’airing’ before enjoying them, this beeing one of them. More soft towards the end and thus quite smooth, which is nice.

Opaque dark brown beer, tidy off white head. Softish palate, a little dry. Smooth malt with a little caramel. Tangy fruits and coca cola. Mild cream. Semi dry finish. Fairly well joined up. Not bad.

3yr old cellared bottle brought back from Belgium. Pours a hazy dark brown with a quickly dissipating head. Slightly sweet aroma of plums. Taste is very smooth, slightly sweet, and some malt. One of my favorite beers and pairs well with lots of different types of food.
