Pretty sure this is the one I had at Berryman Pub in Ottawa, as they called it "Kichesippi Dark". Pours a copper-amber colour with a creamy beige head, good retention and showing some stickiness on the glass. Nice fresh roasty nose with coffee notes. Medium-thick mouthfeel with a little stick to it. Beautiful hoppy presence the whole way, blending things between the mild roasted, caramel and cereal malts. Nice bitterness in the finish creating a mild dry aftertaste. A great session that is very well-balanced.

[on tap at brewery]
Fresh wort aroma with some nuts and brown sugar; fresh. Orange-copper appearance that is almost clear, with a lasting off-white blanket. Nice nutty flavour with contrapuntal bitterness. Moderately dry and clean. Light to medium body, medium carbonation, clean finish, if a tiny touch of lasting bitterness. Quaffable stuff.

En fût au Manx à Ottawa. 5.2%. Couleur ambrée-rousse, mousse beige. Arôme de caramel brulé, malt. En bouche, céréales, caramel, tire, herbes. Finale légèrement amère. Très bonne.

Aroma: lighter nose , brown malts , gentle sweet brown sugar , hint of leafy hops.7-
Appearance: solid look. Brown with neatly contrasting white , large snowy top. Great lace. What else you might want ? 5/5
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: medium lighter body. Slight tartness, nutty follow up , dry sides with bitter lip-smacking roast. Hefty bitterness was thirst quenching to be sure. Nicely done.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2012 On tap @ Hintonburg Public House Ottawa. Pours a clear copper colour with a small off white head. Aroma was primarily ripe red berry, reminded me of smelling a nice Shiraz. Taste is a doughy malt, some nuttiness, and a coppery bitterness. Mouthfeel is relatively thin, with a long bitter finish. Not my favourite but not bad.

2013-05-10. Dark red brown nice head. Malty, dryish light bitterness throughout. Lingering dry malt lightly toasty. Dryish toasty malt aroma, light caramel . Fairly simple, not bad. On tap at Darcy McGee’s, Ottawa

Growler from the brewery. Dark brown pour, oily yet creamy tan head. Sweet dark malt in aroma. Taste - enjoyable. Light to medium body, lots of nutty sweet dark malt flavour, some bitterness in short finish - a little more bitterness than I was expecting actually (thanks!). This was certainly the most mainstream of the three beers I bought from this brewery, and that is fine - it is an appealing ale that will certainly convert a few. And I will buy it again as there is lots here to like (and session) without ever getting too complex. Glad I have a growler to enjoy (and rate from).

Draft at Pub Italia. Red-amber, decent lace. Aroma of cookie malt, bran muffin. Sweet malt profile needs more depth, body, oomph, and some hops couldnt hurt. But the bread flavors are pleasant and juicy.

On tap at Sir John A (Ottawa, ON). Brown body with a fair off-white creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with grainy hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries grainy and oaky notes. Ends with a decent bitter/woody finish. Enjoyable Brown Ale.
