Commercial Description:
日本の名: 純米吟醸 淡雫
Rice: Gohyakumangoku | Seimaibuai: 50% | Nihonshu-do: -4 | Acidity: 1.8
Kura means sake-brewery, and Shizuku is the first run of sake. Kurashizuku's flavor, color and fragrance are enriched by the careful first steaming and pressing of its rice. Often called "antique" sake, Kurashizuku is Usu-Nigori, i.e. sake that has some few sake yeast, rice and koji in the bottle while the bulk remains behind on the filtering cloth as Sake-Kasu ("cake").

Bottled. An unclear water colored sake. The aroma is sweet with notes of rice and alcohol as well as light notes of citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of rice, but also with a bit of acidity, and alcohol that leaves a burn in the throat. Thanks Storm for sharing.

Bottle courtesy of solan. Pours a milky clear with some floaters. Nose is sweet rice, light citrus and mild wood. Taste is more sweet rice, plums, orange peel and a touch of alcohol in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Decent stuff, thanks Alan!

(Bottle 72 cl) Courtesy of Storm. Pours a hazy, greyish golden with no head. Soft, sweetish rice aroma. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel, notes of aniseed and fruit. Pleasant and very drinkable. 190408

This looks like any other glass of water in the pour, very cool and clean, with a hint of licorice and alcohol in the nose. The alcohol really takes a lot of heat on the top of the palate in this one. Its very light and delicate and somewhat sweet with some great acidity. I would love to enjoy this with food.

72 cl. Bottle [Thanks to Storm] this was my first sake, and what a great experience. Quit different than anything else that I have tried. Very watery pale yellow looking, but with somewhat of a glow. Aroma was quite difficult to describe, but what I picked up was menthol, liquorish, vegetable. Over the palate came alcohol, vegetable, strange floral feel, some flower. Full bodied with an alcoholic texture. Alcoholic flower like finish. My first Sake was a very interesting experience. Would have liked it with Sushi. 7-3-7-3-14 19-04-2008
