Kura means sake-brewery, and Shizuku is the first run of sake. Kurashizuku’s flavor, color and fragrance are enriched by the careful first steaming and pressing of its rice. Often called "antique" sake, Kurashizuku is Usu-Nigori, i.e. sake that has some few sake yeast, rice and koji in the bottle while the bulk remains behind on the filtering cloth as Sake-Kasu ("cake").

330 ml bottle. Unclear oily, yellow body without any head. Aroma is relatively fruity with marzipan, rice and a hint of anise. Flavor is sweet, fruity, hint of anise and quite smooth. Strong body and medium aftertaste. Quite OK, but feels a bit boozy.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours clear. I’m not really a big fan of sake. Maybe a touch of anise? Rice wine.

Bottle, 30cl. A hazy, lightly colored sake, oily and flat. The aroma is a bit rough in the start, but it mellows. Canned pears, some citrus hints and a little hint if anise in the aroma. Alcohol and some rice too. It’s lightly oily on the palate, quite dry too. Pears, rice, some alcohol and a touch of citrus peel. Long warming finish. A tasteful one, although a bit rough initially. 140502

Pours slightly hazy clear milky white without a head. Aroma has notes of rice, alcohol, citrus and hint of anise. Taste is light to medium sweet with a long warm, fruity, anise finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, no carbonation

Pours a blank colour. Aroma of pear and grass. Very heavy and good smell! Flavour is a bit too short imo, with pear, citrus and floral notes. A tiny alcohol stinch in the end. Good body with a quite smiith palate. A okey sake, but not the best I’ve tried.

Appearance: Hazy white color with no head.
Aroma: Yeast, rice, and mild fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet and a mild bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Yeast, alcohol, rice and light fruity.
Overall impression: A nice girl tried to learn me something about sake. And I think she was clever. For the first time I liked it. It had a very fresh and “fizzy” texure. This one should be the first pressed sake from the tank. And yeast still left in the bottle.
