2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour at the Ontario Brewing Awards. Pale golden amber pour. The nose has a bit of odd vegetal character. A touch of light fruitiness and some lingering peppery character. Okay.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
473 ml can from LCBO via my bro, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear(?) mahogany with a smallish-ashen head.
Aroma: Some nice caramel/toffee malts, a bit of melanoidin, some solvent/pear drop (unfortunate), fairly fruity, comes off a bit more like a Scotch Ale than an Altbier...
Palate: Medium body, somewhat sparse carbonation.
Flav.: Bread crust, lots of melanoidin, caramel/toffee, very malty with minimal hop presence and somewhat less solvent/acetone (thankfully); almost dry with fair bitterness and a pleasant, melanoidin malty finish.
Not a complete success, unfortunately.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted at Real Canadian Craft Beer Fest. Hoppy and peppery note with a little yeasty kick in there as well. On the palate there is a hint of roast and caramel but this medium bodied brew is all about it’s drinkability.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
473ml can. Pours a mildly hazy reddish brown with a short lived creme coloured head. Aromas of dark bread, cereal notes, light dried fruit, straw, and mild resinous hops. As for taste, this beer is a malt showcase. Biscuity malt notes up front, caramel, good minerality, light maple notes, light straw, and good bitterness that leads to more malt and fruity notes in the finish. I’m a little surprised at how good this is. I’d buy it regularly if readily available. Well done guys!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
473 ml can from the brewery. Light brown more the red. Small spotty white head. Malt aroma, a touch roasty. Really solid classic alt flavour. Very clean and highly drinkable. Enjoyable winter session beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Has a beautiful color, but it lacks depth as far as the way it pours, terrible carbonation, with very little head. It’s aroma is better than average, has a slightly spicy scent, but it is not very developed. The flavour is good, it isn’t overpowering in any way, which is both it’s strength and weakness, it does taste as though there is a bit too much gelatine added during the priming process. Overall, a very solid beer, that is quite unique for an altbier.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2013-04-07. Crisp brown body, small beige head. Mild aroma of muted sweet malt, light notes of caramel and muted dusty malt accents. Flavour of modest malt, light bitterness, mild caramel and toasted malt notes. Average to light bodied palate. Decent example of a style that is not my favorite. On tap at Beer4Boobs 2013, labeled as Helles Yes but told that it was the Alt, Rhino, Toronto

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Alright, first to rate anything from this brewer! Aroma of cherry and fruit punch, noble hops. They didn’t skimp on the hops. Slighty hazy dark amber with a white head. Taste is light, full of noble hops, not particularly malty, a little yeasty and spicy (pepper), with a dry finish. Thin-bodied. Not bad.
