From a nitro can in the Amazing Ales mix pack. Pours a clear rich amber with a persistent half inch of nitro head, looks glorious, taking me back to the days when I drank this in the Irish pubs of Birmingham. The aroma is faintly grassy with some light brown sugar notes to it. Taste is light toffee with a soft hop bite in the background, nothing challenging. The only real problem with this beer, other than the nitro (dear guy why does nitro exist?), is the thinness of the body, itís near watery. A tad more body and it would actually be a very good beer as opposed to just an inoffensive one. Ah well.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
250 ml on tap. Light amber, perfectly clear, with a small, creamy and persistent bright white head. On the nose toasted malts, caramel/toffee, a hint of red fruits. Quite musty overall. Very mild bitterness upfront, bigger sweetness as following and even bigger astringency in the aftertaste. Taste comprises toffee, strangely booze and a hint of sea salt in the background. Rather poor drinkability considering the light ABV. Average carbonation, medium body, oily texture. Ehh, no thanks. Should have gone for a Guinness tick!

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Draught in can)Clear classic Irish Ale ruby red colored body. Has the classic "Guinness" style foam head thatís a a good finger thick and appear to be staying for the duration. Creamy malt spice aroma. Low carbonation. Crisp light sweet malt taste. Smooth velvet mouth feel with a faint feel of carbonation on the tongue. Refreshing and wanting more already.

Draft. Beautiful amber red appearance with inch thick white head. Sweet malty aroma. Taste is caramel and a bit of bitterness, plus also a berry sweetness (strawberry) which I have never realized until now. Typical low ale carbonation. A classic.

2pacís review of this is the best review on RateBeer dot com and probably will remain so unless and until he starts rating again. This is an amber beer in a nitro can and as such, it looks quite nice, crystal clear w/ a nice color and a head that lasts until kingdom come. Beyond that, it is really OK at best. There is not much going on in the nose but it does have decent flavor w/ a touch of nutty malt and some earthy hops to balance. This is a pretty dry beer but some sweetness comes out because itís not all that bitter. As always w/ nitro pours, it has a nice texture on the lips from the ever lasting head but the beer itself is flat and thin tasting. I wouldnít call this bad really but neither is there anything particularly good to say about it.
