Big can. Limited choice on a military base prompted me to try this. So, so. I wouldn’t send it back, but I wouldn’t normally go for it. Brown molasses scent of moderate strength. Hazelnut brown, cloudy pour with pristine white head. Watery feel, slightly creamy, but not what I was expecting by the can or brewer’s description. Nutty molasses flavor, pretty weak.

On tap @ Route 66 Gallarate. Schiuma beige, fine, birra ambrata, leggermente velata. Profumo debole, erbaceo, di frutta secca, metallico, malto tostato. Gusto poco intenso, amaro, sia da luppolo che da tostato, abbastanza acida, tostata, metallica. Poco Carbonata. Poco equilibrata, amaro non bilanciato e non piacevole. Abbastanza armonica.

50 cl 4.3% can from EuroSpar Langnes Tromsř. Wide distributed irish ale.
Modest hints of malts in scents.
Off-white head, 0.5cm lasts for a long time, thick lacing.
At first the foam goes downwards in the body and makes a dark cloudy zone.
A medium brown golden body is revealed afterwards.
Very creamy and smooth in the mouth, about no carbonation, sweet dark malts.
Ending mild with creamy malts.
My first irish ale. Not my favourite style, but I found it inoffensive, and I understand why it is quite popular and very widely distributed.

Aroma: caramel, hints of spice. Pours brown with white head. Head stays for some time. Medium carbonation. Taste: watery, caramel, some light bitterness. Finish has also some light bitterness and sourness. Overall: goes down well, but it’s too watery - it’s almost like drinking some mildly flavored water with some carbonation.

Nice legs;, shame about her face. The tap pour on this is awesome; the taste is flimsy. The mouthfeel is smooth & buttery; the palate is impotent. If you like surfaces & appearances, you’ll love this. If you like depth & flavour, take a pass.

From tap. Nice clear amber pour with a creamy off white head, this is one tasty looking pint! Malts and a bit of caramel for aroma very hidden though. Burnt sugar, mildly bitter, some malts in the background. Damn, mouthfeel is a bit of a let down given the way it looked. I was expecting a creamy full bodied beer but this was thin and somewhat watery. And the taste and aroma were too weak. Looks awesome, the rest is not quite the experience.

For all the criticism of being overly mild, Kilkenny really is a good looking beer. That head is a thing of beauty, quite unmatched by any other feature of the beer. Red hued, amber toned ale with a very creamy off-white head. Aroma of toast and ginger snaps. More of that doughy taste in the mouth, where everything gets very mild - mildly pleasant and mildly flavoursome. Certainly there aren’t any glaring faults but likewise no real sell points. Bit of marmalade and ginger cake - maybe, just maybe some raisin. Finishes the moment you swallow. Thin but indeed a creamy body.
