3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 aracauna (2691) - USA - FEB 23, 2004
This is starting to go past it's prime, but still worth giving a try. It's a little flat, but big toffee and caramel aromas and flavor. It's a little bitter in the finish. Slick mouthfeel would feel thicker with more carbonation.

2 bottle and glass wooden case found in the sale cart real cheap. Bottle # 14095. Poured a deep amber, cloudy, with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, some nuts, trace of fruitiness, and just a touch of cardboard. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, toffee, nuts, and chocolate. The tastes are nice for something this old. Well worth the under $10 I paid for 2 bottles and a glass!

Wah. Should’ve sampled thisun sooner. Poured with zero head. Color is a cloudy medium brown. Aroma is an aromatic blend of caramel, toffee, dark ripe fruit, molasses, malt. Flavor is the same with a little bittersweetness standing out. Body is hampered by the lack of carbonation. Finish isn’t too bad and similar to the flavor with the bittersweetness giving way to a slight sweetness.

Bottle that I’ve kept for ooohh over nine years now but eventually it just kept winking at me and it had to have it, consumed 09-01-09. Pours murky puddle brown with a small beige head which was reassuring. Taste and aroma were initially quite sweet with quite a pronounced sherry character. I was expected this to be well past its best and suffering from heavy oxidation and generally quite stale so I was quite pleased to find that it wasn’t too bad. In fact this was quite decent, bit sweet, toffee and the alcohol was there but in an enjoyable way. Whilst I wouldn’t rave about it, this reminded a bit like an old beaten up leather sofa, it was comfortable and did the job and at the time that’s all I was looking for. A7 A3 F7 P4 OV 14 3.5

Bottle, thanks for sharing, beastiefan2k. The body was hazy light brown with a small khaki head. The aroma was rich with some oxidation, but it was not overwhelming. I sensed a vinous character along with leather and ripe old pears. The taste was sweet oxidation with some leather and table grapes. There was also some black pepper spice in the finish. Still holding up nicely, but past it’s prime.

Nine year old bottle doing surprisingly well. Pours a murky dark amber color. Aroma is very fruity, covering much of any negative notes of age. Light cardboard there but the fruit is just more present. Taste is fine, can’t tell age, prune-ish, sweet English malts. Actually pretty light going down, not a lot of alcohol or age coming out. This is doing better than another bottle I had 2 years ago that was at that point aged exactly the same.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gregis (1257) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - AUG 27, 2008
Bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Pours a cloudy, muddy brown with a thin beige skin and sheeting lace. The nose is of sweet, round, doughy malt with earthy hops in support. Medium-bodied and creamy-slick with a clean, malty finish. The flavor follows the nose: very sweet with an earthy hop bitterness at the finish. A solid, sweet, warming British barley wine. Thanks again for sharing this with us, Eugene.

620 ml bottle generously shared by beastiefan2k. Bottle limited edition, numbered #13254. Pour is cloudy orange brown with a thin off white head. Aroma of full sugary maltiness. Some old cherriness is also in the nose. Taste is sugary, nutty with caramel maltiness. There is also a cinnamon spiciness in the taste which is nice. Palate is full bodied, nicely coats the mouth. No alcohol present whatsoever. Really no sense in this beer that it is just shy of 10 years old, held up quite well. Thanks Eugene, this was a treat.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerprincess (52) - Indiana, USA - FEB 7, 2006
Cloudy, tan with light head. Hazelnut and toffee nose with a lot of nut aromas. Chocolate toffee taste with a smooth finish. The sweetness lingers on the back of your tongue.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sprinkle (114) - Arcadia, Michigan, USA - FEB 7, 2006
Nice thick light tan head with quickly fading lace. Strong nutty portish, toffee nose. Rich and sweet, notes of chocolate candy, carmel that lingers for minutes and finishes dry. Nice complexity. This sample is alot better than the one I had a couple years ago.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Probiere (992) - Iowa, USA - JAN 29, 2006
Nice presentation in a strangely-sized bottle, but I think it’s sat a little too long. Definite caramelly-ness and crystallized sweetness with nice notes of allspice and cinnamon and also a sour vinousness. Palate was slick but a little thin.
