King Arthur’s Scotch Ale

Good god - I’m not sure what the brewing situation is here or who’ s doing it, but this is coming from a heavily botched mash!! Whoppingly grainy, husky and astringent. The astringency was so bad the beer came through nearly sour, leaving a long dry tannic finish. There’s quite a bit of thick sweet caramelized malts up front, but the tart astringency dominates everything else. Barely finishable! Medium caramalized aroma, amber color with fine head.

Hazy red amber ale with no head. Light malt and fishy/egg notes. In mouth, sweet malt with fig notes and warm alcohol. Almost veering on a belgian brown ale. Good overall. On tap February 4, 2005.
