BeerandBlues2 (3198), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 24, 2007 Bottle, corked. Pours clear dark yellow with an average, fizzy, white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, meal), average hops (grass), average yeast (sweat) with notes of dust and paper. Light bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity and bitterness. Cletus (4999), Connecticut, USA Sep 23, 2007 Bought this last week and didn’t know what to expect to be honest. Pours gold with a fluffy white head that dissipates fast (like champagne). That’s where the comparison to Champagne ends. Smells of grapes and citrus. Tastes overly sweet with some peppery splashes. Not all that exciting. Malheur and Deus are both better than this (albeit more expensive). RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 17, 2007 Pours a slightly hazed gold with a big white head that falls very fast. Nose is clean with a citrus tone to it. Faint yeast. Flavor is more towards the beer side. Hops and an almost pasty doughy yeasty kind of thing. It almost borders on the texture of pepto bismol...well...that is what comes to mind when it is in my mouth. But it isn’t nasty like that. Feel is slightly thick with carbonation. This is extremely drinkable. A very good brew in my opinion. However. If you are looking to try what is the best example of this new style(Champagne lager), I would go with Deus, hands down. It may be two or three times the price, but I think it is two or three times better. gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Sep 5, 2007 Big fluffly pour. Rather light. Kind of refreshing in an efervecince way. But not much to it. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Sep 2, 2007 Yeast, alcohol and corn, yellow, small white. Tastes of corn and rice. Harsh, grainy. Yikes!! cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 31, 2007 Bottle at home ... Crisp golden yellow ... Mellow fruity slightly belgian hop nose ... nice crisp clean but more a mellow belgian triple than a lager ... and from my tasting much better than the 24th percentile its currently sitting at. scotty (828), Scotland Aug 24, 2007 I was looking for a bit of style & quality from this given the blurb on the bottle, certainly reads well. The truth is, however, that its unbalanced, overly sweet, has no head and has an sickly overpowering malty/citrus fruit nose. Another of those "nice idea, but needs a bit more work" beers. jimhilt (1662), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Aug 20, 2007 Fizzes out of bottle, pours a five+ finger white head that vanishes quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Crystal clear light amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Grassy nose. Flavor is sweetish, earthy and grass, drying finish. Higher ABV is hidden. Champagne lager is misleading - not fizzy and not like a lager. Pricey at $6.99 for a 375ml corked bottle from Tully’s Beer and Wine Wells, ME.
