Pale golden pour, white fizzy head with decent retention. Corny sweet aroma, with a faint note of hops. Flavor is semi-sweet, with only a hint that the brewer used any hops, and a slight hint of alcohol. Sharp carbonation at first, but still a pretty smooth mouthfeel in the almost non-existent finish. Wish they would just call this King Cobra in the states, who do they think they’re fooling. Didn’t expect too much from this, just glad I got it at cost. Even then it’s over-priced.

Nice fluffy head, nice and cold. Decent goldenrod hue with lively bubbles. Delicate nose of sweet canned corn. Certainly some adjuncts involved.Corny sweet on the front end, the bubbles try but almost don’t finish the sweetness. Head rentention is nice. Alcohol does not make a strong presence. Smooth mouthfeel and finish, even though a little sweet. All in all, not too bad. Actually a little tasty if served cold. I demote the beer on the basis of canned corn and the fact that it is expensive.

An ok European Strong Lager. Candy, wheat, and yeasty flavors. Finishes dry, smooth, and bland.

What a damn joke. Pale yellow, large head, blah lacing and retention. Aroma is RICE, light malts, some acidity. Flavor brings this with rice and funky yeast dominating everything. Alcohol is hidden well for such a light beer. I tried to give this as many points as I could, but in the end it’s a $13 Budweiser.

Mostly clear thin yellow pour. A slight snow-white haze revolves around the body, like it’s in a separate lining of the glass. Fully diminishing white head. Corn, sugar, phenols, yeast that evokes a fresh feeling but ultimately seems lacking in quality; all of this is found in an interesting aroma, that, while complex, is unimpressive. Interplay of yeast and what smells like light stricken malt is a faint, uncohesive and somewhat sickly blend. Flavor has more desirable points than aroma. Still, however, too much grainy and sweet malt. A nice yeast profile evolves as the beers warms near room temperature, but the rest of the flavor slides steadily downhill. A sugary, lengthy finish ensures few sips in my future. Lively but unimpressive.

Feb, 2007 Quite a pleasant and fragrant strong beer. Similar to Belgian blonde beers. Touch of spice. Touch of yeast. Filtered and force carbonated, which removes a good deal of character, but still an attractive beer with more flavour and character than the usual lager. Mmmmm. Even lager can be tasty and interesting if brewed with enough knowledge and care. Decent brew. (Treated with respect and drunk at room temperature.) [3.3]

Aug, 2008 Chris_o’s GBBF Shindig August 08. A mild tasting strong lager. Slight light fruit. Acceptable but dull. [2.7]
