SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 29, 2009 been wanting this for a couple of years .. quite a light brew, scary in its drinkability .. strong white head .. stable .. very nice spritz .. not that complex, has potential .. abv well hidden .. pretty good stuff.. UnholyBrewing (448), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia Mar 18, 2009 ...I don’t know what’s going on here, but the version I had wasn’t 8%, it was 5%. Anyway, it was a pretty good brew, with lots of weird flavors from all the different grains. Very clean, due to the extensive filtering. I might have this again one day, but it’s really not my style. Rodders (114), Norwich, Norfolk, England Mar 16, 2009 Was offered this at a friends house so I couldn’t take any notes. As such this is all from memory, which may have been altered somewhat by the 8%.
Golden with a large head which soon faded to nothing. Occasionly (I had several glasses) some of the yeast got in giving it a cloudy look. Aroma was of alcohol and citrus hops. Taste was more alcohol - too much in my opinion, although as I drank it became less obvious. Hints of citrus and not much else. It wasn’t as smooth as they made out either - the carbonation was a little bit prickly.
Not bad, but not something I’d choose to drink again when there are better examples of strong lagers out there. Like to see if aging does anything to it though, or try it with indian or chinese food. SeanMacGC (233), Dublin, Ireland Feb 26, 2009 Bottle, 75cl, in a Trappist glass. Pours very light golden, with an initially decent white head that evaporates quickly, with little to no lacing. Very faint aroma of cereal and honey. Pallid on the tongue, nothing much there except maybe very faint citrus, with alcohol undertones.Decent carbonation. Possibly unique (I’m guessing) in that it’s a bottom-fermented lager first, then top-fermented abbey-style on the second fermentation - doesn’t really work, if this is the best that can be done, but may have potential. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2009 Golden yellow with next to no head. Aroma of fruit, pale and sweet malts and perhaps a touch of lemon. Taste of toasted malt, mild fruit and sweet malt. Body is very effervescent and ends up with a semi peppery finish. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2009 750mL bottle, bottled as “Krait Prestige”. Poured very bright golden with a short-lived cap of white head.. rather watery-looking. The aroma picked up lots of corn and pale malts with a strong alcohol influence.. smelled like a slightly classed up malt likka. The flavor was along those same lines with almost citrus vodka-enhanced pale malts and corn.. lemon zest and boozy warmth rode out the tacky finish.. nothing really offensive here, but nothing good either. Medium-bodied with some lively carbonation on the palate.. OK flow at best. Not so enjoyable. RSRIZZO (1334), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jan 19, 2009 Color is a bright gold with good carbonation and a loose white head. Aroma is a faint sweet scent with skunk tones. Taste comes on a light body that has a creamy feel then a sweet caramel like malt flavor, some fruity yeast notes and faint bitterness. After taste is dry with the bitterness fading out quickly. Its a nice little brew. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Jan 18, 2009 (Bottled, 0.75l) Hazy greenish yellow with a medium, big-bubbly head. Aroma of corny, honeyish malt, and some grassy hops. No alcohol evident, at least when cold. Pale-malty, lemony-honeyish flavor with smooth, fruity alcohol presence, and not much hops. Medium-bodied and slightly slicky with smooth carbonation. Reasonably drinkable and smooth strong lager, but doesn’t offer much flavorwise.
