COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During the summer of 2008, Mark Avsec had an idea that crystallized as he traveled with drummer Kevin Valentine to a Donnie Iris and the Cruisers show in Kittanning, PA. The two men were discussing how Donnie and his management team had for years been approached by restaurateurs and other entrepreneurs looking to partner on one venture or another, and how none of the ventures had ever seemed "right". Driving through the Pennsylvania hills, Avsec, an intellectual property lawyer, was suddenly struck by the notion that "King Cool" was a name that also cleverly suggested a refreshing beer. That night, Mark shared his vision of marketing a beer called King Cool™ with Donnie and Marty, who immediately liked the idea, as did Mike Belkin, the band’s longtime manager. Donnie, an avid beer drinker, had just one stipulation: If there was going to be a beer, it had to be "awesome." And so, King Cool Limited was born. Donnie is a light beer drinker who prefers a beer that he can enjoy without feeling overly full before or after a show, over the course of a Steelers or Penguins game, or when he’s out for the evening with friends in Beaver Falls and Pittsburgh. So, from the beginning, King Cool™ had to be a "lighter" beer. But he also lamented why "light" beers, including his own favorite at the time, were always so "light" on flavor. It was for this very reason that Mark and Marty preferred the taste of more flavorful beers. The friends decided that if they were going to develop a "lighter" beer, it had to have real flavor. It had to be a light beer that rocks! Or, as the newly-formed beer company’s Chief Operating Officer, native Pittsburgher Gary Medved noted: "Guys, you’ve never made watered-down music. You can’t make a watered-down beer." And so the work began and it came to pass, after months of taste tests and tweaking of recipes, that the men arrived at - and were smitten by - a full-flavored, caramel-colored lager that clocked in at only 122 calories per bottle. Notwithstanding this, it was not until Donnie fired up the grille on his back porch on a warm September evening (with the wind blowing through the trees, of course) that the decision was sealed. After leisurely enjoying his perfectly-grilled steak and an ice-cold King Cool™ Light, Donnie promptly phoned Mark and proclaimed: "This is it, Spark. This is a good beer." King Cool™ Light. A light beer that rocks!™

Bottle shared by Dogbrick. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma is amber malt and corn. Flavor is amber malt, grain and a bit of hop. Watery finish. Not bad for the style, I guess. And how can you hate a beer that Donnie Iris puts his name on?

Bottle. Pours a light copper color with a very small white head. A grainy caramel nose. Smooth and decent flavor; sweet, some coca cola and caramel, malty, decent.

Bottle from a six-pack given as a Christmas gift. The beer is a pale amber color with a brownish tint, darker than most Light beers by far. Thin and bubbly light beige head that disappears quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt and caramel. Light body with flavors of toasted malt, grain and mild hops. The finish is short and sweet with a grainy aftertaste. Okay for a Light overall.

From bottle. Light beany hop aroma, fairly clean, with a bit of carbonic gaseousness and pale malt. Dark dark yellow clear with very thin head - an odd, ugly looking color. Light body with medium carbonation. Starts with light sweetness and a little toasted character. Not much hop bitterness but there is a subtle flavor. Smooth clean finish with a light after. Not bad for a light beer. Kind of reminds me of a very light, very dull Altbier.

Not rating to style, mind you...this beer is damn good. Aroma was very weak. Could just detect some light corn and caramel. Pour was a nice medium brown with a thin off white ring for a head that leaves quickly. Taste was nice. Nice and caramelly and a sweet molasses aftertaste. Strong and biting carbonation. It’s not what I was expecting with the term "light beer" in the title. That’s a lot of flavor for that few calories. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a lovely amber with little head and extremely minimal aromas of caramel based malt. Flavor is washed out caramel malt with a watery finish. Based on the write-up, this is 122 calories that have been poorly spent...

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a small beige head. The aroma was faint, tangy and industrial. The flavor was bitter and sour macro lager with a long tangy finish with a touch of caramel. Eh.

This beer claims to be a light but when you pour it and see the dark brown you know its something more. Good sweet aroma. Goes down fairly easy. Not bad and has manners. This has more personality than the typical light beer and less rudeness than the macros. . More flavor but notjhing bitter in there. Got a case of this for a gift from the brother in law. Finish is acceptable.
