3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tessic (746) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 22, 2004
This lager pours a dark red colour with a off white head. The aroma includes some nice roasted malts with a sweetish, caramel scent. Maybe a little coffee. First sip is very roasty with a nice charred malt flavour. Starts out slightly sweet but by the finish the bitterness comes in. The taste is also slightly sweet with a very small amount of cocoa. The finish is slightly bitter but pretty good all in all
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mustang3 (254) - Whitby, CANADA - AUG 18, 2004
A very enjoyable beer. Bottle poured a reddish copper with minimal head. The aroma is malty caramel. The flavour starts with carmael and brown sugar, but I can taste the hops underneath. Well balanced.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Crockett (960) - Steelback County, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2004
Pours deep copper with a thick foamy off white head. Sweet malty aroma with some wood smoke. Flavours are very earth with hints of molases and clovey cider. Old musty apple. Notes of minerals and salt in the finish. Interesting.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2004 Tasted in Toronto from the LCBO. Tasted in dimple mug. Tasted at just above room temp. Colour is dark, matching the label description. Light thin white wispy head with very caramel sweet scent. Doesn’t feel like a lager, would be absolutely mediocre as an ale. But drinkable

Orangy body with light beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Bitter sweet flavour. Too cloying at times. Decent though with some caramel hints.

Looks like an Irish Ale. Red and thin looking. Nice head and caramel lacing. Light fruit aroma giving way to caramel and toffee as it warms. Decent pint. Caramel taste with a trace of spice that is hard to pin down that teases through the finish. Slighty thicker body but reminiscent of Big Rock’s Trad or McNally. Props to Tupalev.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gorbalev (2823) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 26, 2004
Bottle. Amber colour, small thin head. Slightly fruity aroma, but nothing too noticeable. Thin malty character, nicely balanced with a mild hoppy taste. Crisp. Was expecting nothing, so this was a nice surprise. Looking forward to trying the pilsner
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 11, 2003
A slowly burning red wine vinegar furnace, fed by feeble caramel sweetness...Fiendish water dilutes the few berries and ferries across the fickle ashes...Far from a fiasco, but still a fledgeling lager...
