Authentic Munich Dunkel Style Lager 4.8% alc./vol. King Brewery's newest addition is this authentic Munich-style Dark Lager. Using only the finest imported Dark Munich Malt and Noble German Hops, combined with brewing in our authentic German decoction brewhouse, gives this beer King's trademark "true to style" aroma and flavour. This delicious beer is red-brown in colour, with a thick tan coloured head. The palate is rich and full, delivering a clean bready taste with a hint of toasted chocolate, while sporting elegant lace lines to the bottom of your glass. This unique Dark Lager is complex yet clean. Enjoy it with all European continental style foods and cheeses, or just as a well deserved cold one. Extremely flavourful, balanced and deliciously refreshing, our Dark Lager has to be tasted to be appreciated!

Orangey-amber colour is not as dark as I was hoping for. Slightly fruity aroma with vague caramel notes. Body is caramelly, maybe some light toffee. Quick finish. Not in the league of their (usually) tasty pilsner.

Clear dark brown lager with a thin dissipating moka head. Sweet musty caramel aroma, with light powdery moka notes. In mouth, sweet nutty malt, with mokaccino flavours, light metallic hops, but very short in mouth. Medium bodied.

malty brown sugar aroma. Mid-sip hint of carmel and nuts and chocolate. Some toasting. Malt more than hops. Dry and sweet oil aftertaste.

Dark brown pour with a tight tan head. The nose is lovely. Fresh toasted malt, a little bit of cocoa and brown bread. Fresh clean malt with just a touch of yeasty aroma. It's nothing fancy, but it's a top notch dunkel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2004 Rerate 8/18/04 Sweeter and less hoppy than before, bit of chocolate notes at first become more like caramel as it warms up. Bit of toasted malt. An improvement from before, I think they must have tweaked this one. <P> Initial Rating: Darkish amber, bit of a hoppy bite to it but not a lot of bitterness. OK mouthfeel, Lingering aftertaste was not unpleasant. Hops are strongly reminiscent of their pilsener. Not bad but unexciting. 5/3/5/3/12
