2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from holiday pack @LCBO: Brown beer with tan head. Week aromas of toasted malt. Taste is same with a dash of chcolate hazelnut spread. Thin on the palate with a most curious, unpleasant aftertaste.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2007 Cask@ volo. Poured a clear brown colour. Has a caramel/mild coffeeish taste. Not bad, but a little boring.

bottle: Thanks to Lord Beamish for this one . . . this is what craft beer should be. Huge flavour & fresh tasting. I detect a coffee or bitter flavour upfront with a sweet finish. I immediately think of a sweet cola taste. This beer smells good as soon as you open the bottle and pour. Quality malts and hops are evident. Lacing is good. I think their ad says it best, Complex yet Clean. This is the way beer should be. I love Walkerville’s dark lager but this is a definite step up. Wow.

Sampled at The C’est What? Fall Festival of Beers. Nice dark brown colour with a small creamy head. Pleasant malty aroma. Good levels of malt in the taste, with a hint of herbs (?) and chocolate. Body was light, but pleasant. I didn’t expect too much here, but ended up surprised. Good beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Found some old bottles in my garage. Surprisingly aromatic, it contains shades of rye bread, almonds and molasses. Taste has some chalkiness which may be due to the ridiculous temperature extremes involved in spending a couple of years in a garage. Still, there is an attractive hoppiness to accompany the roasted nuts, chocolate and wood flavours. Oddly dry mouthfeel -- although I was expecting worse, especially since one of its neighbouring bottles was still sealed yet only 3/4 full.

Amber, tan creamy head with very little retention. Fruity, caramel, roasted nuts, some malt. Has a sweet to slight bitter finish. Not a bad dark lager.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark amberish brown with a small tan head. The aroma is toffee and roasted caramalts underneath metalic Noble hops. Flavor is very nice, starts out almost sour with grainyness then some good sweet malt body kicks in, with a bitter hop bite in the finish. Grainy malty awesomeness. Minor mocha hint to it as well. Leaves the palate wanting more. Super-sessionable, this is an excellent beer.

Dark tan pour, little head, bready, full and rich with smoothness and a slight bitter. Not bad.

One of the best beers I’ve had in a long time. Many trips will be made to King City (well actually Nobleton) to pick this gem up. Nice dark colour, opens with bitter coffee notes but finishes in a well balanced symphony of sweetnees! Nice caramel flavourings as well. Really nice!

Poured dark brown, slight reddish tinge with small thin tan head. Almost fruity aroma and sweet malts. Taste was much more roasted malts with a bit of coffee like bitterness. Quite nice.
