3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Silphium (2718) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - AUG 26, 2005
Hazy light orange body, big puffy off-white head. Floral, citrusy hops aroma. Toasty body with piney, citrusy hops, and definitely on the bitter side. Biscuity. Not bad, but fairly nondescript.

Bottel @ union street saloon Detroit, MI. Pours a nice golden orange color with a small, white, foamy head. Nose is hoppy and sweet with some light floral notes. Taste is lots of hopps with some caramel and malt mixed in creating a sweetness. Bitterness in the finish and a dry throat feeling.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - MAR 3, 2005
Tap: orangish amber color with decent white head that fades fast. Besides a little citrus, there is almost no aroma. Taste is all bitter hops. Just o.k.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - FEB 6, 2005
Tap. Medium amber in color. Nice off-white head. Nice lacing. Citrus and piney hop aromas. A bit hop dominant in flavor but not horribly so. Lingering grapefruit rind flavor in the finish. Decent.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3449) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - OCT 5, 2004
Bottle: Very sweet and malty aroma. Lots of caramel and only very light hops. Pours a dark transparent amber with a decent off-white head with fair retention. Very nice lacing. Very malty. Lots of caramel in the flavor. Only a touch of hops in the finish. Light caramel aftertaste. Real soft mouthfeel. The one word that describes this beer the best would be "caramel." Not as hoppy as you'd expect in an American Pale Ale, but still very good. Probably not the best example of the style because there is so little hops in the flavor.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 TAR (2236) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - SEP 28, 2004
Hazy apricot. Fine layer of dusty-white foam. Graham, caramel, toasted plantain, and floral hop nose. Touch of pine and phenols. Dense-bubbled carbonation with some fluff. Hops and citrus acidity are kept at bay by melted caramel and toasted malt flavors. Slick fruitiness persists throughout. Tight piney hop emergence balances the rich malt and doughy yeast abundance. Improves toward the finish, with the malt becoming earthier, and hop leaves supplying a long bitter aftertaste. Lingers with a tailing of persimmon skin, tropical fruit, and chalky-edged malt textures. Middle of the road, but enjoyable.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JoeM500 (1894) - Crown Point, Indiana, USA - AUG 14, 2003
Very yeasty nose with hints of caramel and piney hops. Very gritty and rough around the edges. The piney nosed hops seem soapy. Balance is lost, grittiness wins.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 proc (342) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - FEB 10, 2003
This Pale Ale pours out to a bright amber with a generous head. Aroma is that of bread dough and pine needles. Tast is that of pine, biscuits, and caramel. This is a very drinkable Pale Ale. The balance is wonderful. It isn't dominated by hops as many pales are. The malt stands out and makes mouthfeel and swallow as smooth as velvet. This could be a session Pale if there ever was one.

Tap. A nice smooth pale ale with hints of wonder, but not a standout Pale Ale.
