jimmay (179), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Nov 6, 2009 341 ml bottle from Beer Store. Pours slightly dark golden in colour, with nice big frothy head, which dissipates slowly, leaving thick lacing. Aroma is hoppy, notes of bread and grass. Flavour is the same, quite bitter. Carbonation is lively, and fine. Great Pilsner! PaulHegedus (458), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Sep 17, 2009 Bottle. It’s golden and well carbonated in a tall pilsner flute. The head is relatively thick with some wisps of lacing on the glass. In the aroma there is lots of hay, some bread and butter, dandelion with light grassy hops behind. Mouthfeel is light to medium in body, slightly chewy. The flavour is fairly grassy with more dandelion, grain, plenty of buttery malt. The finish lingers just a bit with more grass and grain. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Sep 1, 2009 Bottled. Not nearly as bad as I was expecting! Actually, it is pretty good. Dryish, ricey aroma, with nice spicy hops. Flavor is actually rather sweet, but nicely so, complimented by a spritzy, gingery hop. Easy drinking, balanced. Goes well with tomato soup. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2009 Pint on tap at Ritz Deli North. Gold with a short-lived white head. Grassy aroma of pilsner malt and noble hops - not too strong. Flavour can be described in the same way. Could perhaps finish a little dryer. More cautious than bold, but an accurate and tasty representation of the style. LordBeamish (144), Boozetown, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2009 Excellent....simply excellent! The grassy notes of Steam Whistle with perhaps a smoother finish. Dare I say this may even go down smoother than a Steamer? An excellent and refreshing Pil! markas101 (541), Fargo, North Dakota, USA Jun 16, 2009 33 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Medium golden colour, frothy 1/2 inch head that stays. Quite visible carbonation, grain and fresh grass aroma. Nice mellowness with some sweetness and balanced bitterness on the finish. Very nice. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 9, 2009 On draft at Volo. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Well balanced aromas of clean pilsner malts and strong herbal and earthy hops. In the mouth, it’s a simple yet classic one-two punch of clean yet distinct malts and herbal hops. Finishes quite dry with a savory bitterness. A very impressive North American micro brewed interpretation of the style. KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada Apr 29, 2009 bottle. Thanks to Lord Beamish for this one again. Not as mind blowing as their dark lager (how many beers are?) but another quality beer in completely different style. The brewmaster is a genius. This is Steamwhistle’s long lost twin or silent cousin, as the taste similarties between these 2 beers is uncanny. Same grass/hay taste and bitter, tangy finish. The care and quality ingredients going into this are evident. Support this microbrewery as they put out quality stuff!
