LordBeamish (138), Boozetown, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2009 Excellent....simply excellent! The grassy notes of Steam Whistle with perhaps a smoother finish. Dare I say this may even go down smoother than a Steamer? An excellent and refreshing Pil! markas101 (470), Fargo, North Dakota, USA Jun 16, 2009 33 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Medium golden colour, frothy 1/2 inch head that stays. Quite visible carbonation, grain and fresh grass aroma. Nice mellowness with some sweetness and balanced bitterness on the finish. Very nice. piscator34 (1042), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 9, 2009 On draft at Volo. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Well balanced aromas of clean pilsner malts and strong herbal and earthy hops. In the mouth, it’s a simple yet classic one-two punch of clean yet distinct malts and herbal hops. Finishes quite dry with a savory bitterness. A very impressive North American micro brewed interpretation of the style. KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada Apr 29, 2009 bottle. Thanks to Lord Beamish for this one again. Not as mind blowing as their dark lager (how many beers are?) but another quality beer in completely different style. The brewmaster is a genius. This is Steamwhistle’s long lost twin or silent cousin, as the taste similarties between these 2 beers is uncanny. Same grass/hay taste and bitter, tangy finish. The care and quality ingredients going into this are evident. Support this microbrewery as they put out quality stuff! mansquito (768), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Dec 26, 2008 Pours with a quickly descending head and a orange/gold body. Aroma not too great some malts and grassy hops. Taste is pretty mediocre. Has some of the offensive tastes of a crappy pale lager. Otherwise there are grainy tastes.... a modicum of hops... and slight bitterness. Glouglouburp (2573), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 21, 2008 In short: A crisp pilsner too clean to have a real personality. Nice session beer nonetheless.
How: Tap at C’est What?, Toronto
The look: Clear golden yellow body topped by a small white head
In long: Basic honeyed cereals and an appropriate dose of on dry grassy hops. Well balanced and relatively tasty. The beer is the crisp side of things. Far from a draught bohemians pilsner from Czech brewpubs this one reminded me of the few good bottled bohemians pilsner I’ve had. Extra clean (too clean) but still quite enjoyable if you like the style like I do. Looks like I’m the first one rating it, a strange feeling, much to my parent’s despair I’ve never been the first at anything. Beershine (2268), Bamberg, Germany Sep 30, 2008 Draught @ Winking Judge. Clear golden with small white head. Diacetyl aroma is unfortunate. Flavors are better. Some sweet grain and a sweet finish. Soft mouthfeel. Would have more character without all the diacetyl hanging about. KyotoLefty (873), Kyoto, Japan Sep 20, 2008 On tap at victory in Toronto.
Big cereal malt aroma with background hops. Malty, buttery flavor, slightly fruity. Well-done Bohemian pilsner. Good balance, big malt, surprisingly hoppy finish.
