3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2006 Poured a slightly clouded pale gold...fair white frothy cap..good lacing, medium carbonation...promising nose..musty sweet malt tones over a floral hop presense. Medium malt body ( probably a very nice blend of german light malts) that is over powered by the tart citrus/herbal bittering hops...leaves a clean finish with a lingering metal taste...this is a hop heads pilsner that is a domestic attempt at Pilsner Urquell...but the delivery is very malty.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Well I have a feeling that this might be better than I gave it credit for, and the taste of the previous bad beer was still in my mouth. It was very pale yellow with thin head and a bit of lacing. Definitely grassy aromas and a crisp meadow-ish flavour. The giveaway that it might be decent was that I finally got a nice bitter finish - I need to try this again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A great summer thirst quencher. Pale yellow colour out of the bottle with very little head. The aroma is straw and the flavour is similar, but with a great refreshing hop bite on the finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden colour. Aroma was of hops, grass, earthy and quite fresh. Flavour was quite hoppy, lots of grass, some wheat and malt. Medium body, very clean and crisp. Finishes with a moderate bitterness and dry.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rich aroma. This is probably the way that a Bohemian Pilsener should come off, but all I’ve seen have been phenolic. Popcorn/peanut or some familiar salty aroma. Clear light gol. Big head. Hoppy, a little musky and tart. Long traililng hops. Not sweet.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Features distilled water, to allegedly mimic the quality of water found in the Czech Republic (the birthplace of the lager [pilsner] style of brewing). Warm, bold-gold brew is exactly what you’d expect from a premium pilsner. Innocent aromas of sweet cereal and canned pineapple are soon followed by a devious bite of bitterness that heads straight for the sinuses. This same woody bitterness is immediately apparent in the taste, which imparts an especially rewarding experience for those who enjoy bitter brews. It is said that an appreciation of bitterness is the last taste sensation to evolve on your tongue. How evolved are you?

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a nice, clear golden yellow with a nice head.
Aroma is a swath of cut grass--hops, indeed.
Mouthfeel is crisp and clean with well-balanced carbonation.
Taste is a wallop of bitter that washes back into a nice finish with an aftertaste of bitter that lingers just long enough. It’s nice to have a fresh pilsner. So often the imports are a gamble--will they or won’t they be skunked...? So, a lovely brew that I think I’ll be enjoying as long as I’m in Ontario.
