UPDATED: AUG 22, 2010 Fresh bottle from brewery: Decants as a clear deep amber with orange highlights. Creamy 3 finger cap that laces well. Well carbonated. Nose is rich in toasty-bready Vienna malts, little detectable sweetness, some earthy-woody noble hop tones ,nice fresh aroma and true to style. Medium bodied smooth mouth feel clean malty character. Taste profile is on style as well...bready-toasty wiith very light sweeness in front, hops sit back, mid palate the noble hops give off heir earthy woody bittering as the clean finish dries right out and provides a small hop bite in the end. A very good (true to style) rendition of the Vienna style, the first we have in the Ontario market at least. With a few minor tweeks this would be on par with Great Lakes Eliot Ness. Satisfying, quenching yet flavorful with a decent malt discernment and hop bite....this is a keeper. Hope it’’s not just a one off.

Pours a clear copper color with a fluffy off-white head that leaves a bunch of lace. Aroma of rich vienna malts, caramel, lightly toasted and clean lager characteristic. Taste is malt complexity up front with lightly toasted vienna malts and a dry finish. The caramel present in this beer isn’t too style and overall it’s a bit too clean and astringent.

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Simple Vienna, caramel malt and a little bread. Crisp lager body. Basic, but good at what it does. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341mL bottle from the Lickbow singles bin. Nice to see such a new product reduced to the poor lonely singles bin. Pours a golden copper with a small beige head. Aroma is about as exciting as, um, er, uh, okay so the aroma isn’t much beyond some faint hints of malt. Flavour has some mild Munich caramalts, with a weird creamy and perfumey finish. Watery palate with moderate carbonation that I had to kill off by swirling my glass. Seems kind of like a macro to be honest, but a macro done well with the proper ingredients. Like the beer so many awful macro breweries are describing in their marketing while selling you yellow pissy fizz. Enjoyable despite being incredibly bland, glad I didn’t spring for a sixer.

This lager poured a nice medium amber colour with a off white, smooth head. Scents include ripe fruit, malt, tea and hops. First taste was nice and smooth. Quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavours of light raisin (or other ripened fruit?), bread and a tiny bit of smoke. Finish is really nice with a light bitterness and hop/malt flavor lingering.

Clear coppery slightly red pour without much head. Strong ’beer smell’ Very generic, lager, smells like a beer smell. Distinct mouth I didn’t expect from the nose. Light, dry and easy to drink. Some floral tastes in the middle that comes quick and fades quick. Bit of lingering hopps in the aftertaste. Not bad at all. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing really stands out either.

341 ml bottle. Pours rich amber colour, with small white head. Aroma and taste are mildly malty and bitter, maybe a little on the sweet side of balanced. I’d say right on the style.

Winding down from a night at Indie Ale House and Bellwoods Brewery. Unpretentious, well made, refreshing and flavourful.

Pour golden orange off white head. Aroma caramel, malty sweet, noble hops, quite sweet. Taste sweet grain, cereal, barley, biscuit/bready, grassy, nice finishing bitterness. MF medium to light crisp body. Overall after a mediocre aroma hits with a nice flavorful beer with good MF well done.
