COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kingdom is introducing its second product; “Dark Lager”. The beer’s darkness is the result of the use of roasted malts. The taste includes a mild sweetness from caramel.

Bottled, at several places in Phnom Penh. Well it’s a start. Cambodia’s only black beerright now that is not a strong stout. More Schwarz character with Dunkel colour I would say. There is nothing WRONG with it, it’s just not very assertive. It needs a bit of passion and daring. The caramel just about comes through in agrainy, not an adjunctive kind of way.

Bottled. A dark red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, bread, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, metal, caramel, and bread, leading to a dry metallic finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of jaghana. Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head. Roasty nose. Medium body, subtle roast, heavy metals and quite some cardboard. No bitterness. The metal really spoils the fun. 030612

33cl bottle in Phnom Penh. Drank it in a restaurant in Sisowath Quay, but didn’t get a glass so it was a bit tricky to see the colour. Light aroma of roasted malt with liquorice, caramel, dried dark fruits and spices. Much more flavour than most other beers in Cambodia, even some bitterness. Quite nice, and one of the best I tried in Cambodia.

This is Cambodia’s best beer. I recommend seeking it out, which might be difficult as many bars don’t carry it; too expensive for the English teachers, you see. Tastes like a dark German to me, half way between a Dunkel and Schwartzbeer. The sweetness is fantastic, can’t taste the alcohol at all. I really hope this brewery survives.

33 cl. bottle shared / thx to tderoeck – ruby brown with a tanned head, smells like buffalo sweat, caramel malts, synthetic, taste sweet, pale lager caramel malts, white sugar, metallic, grains, synthetic, crappy toffee & caramel, hint of hops, meh-tastic

33cl bottle. Thanks Tderoeck for the share.

14/IV/2012 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 24/X/12 (2012-370) Thanks to Thomas and Annelies for the bottle!

Clear red brown beer, creamy light beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. aroma: water buffalo ball sack sweat mixed with some caramel. MF: low carbon, light body. Taste: pretty bitter, malts, some caramel. Aftertaste: malts, some hops, hint of mocha. Now I’m actually doubting my belief that they should try to brew something different than the regular shitty lager / pilsener beers in every country.

Bottle from Samudera Supermarket, Sihanoukville, Cambodia!
Very nice label. Pours dark copper colored with high, fine off-white head. Smells malty, toasted, nutty, with lots of caramel. Starts with dry malts, lots of caramel and toffee, some nut aroma in the background. Flat carbonation and low malt base. Finish is dry malty, bitter and slight caramelly. Could use some more sweetness. But still a nice dark one!
