20-Aug-07 (12 oz bottle: Purchased 20-Aug-07 at BevMo in La Jolla, CA) So, this bottle of Indian beer is made in New York? Pouring the beer, it’s immediately clear that this is going to be a fairly sweet beer. Aromas of sweet and honey-like graininess, dust, and cotton candy persist, with almost no corn or no hop aromas. The flavor is almost shockingly sweet for a lager, tasting more like a cream ale. But it’s malty without a strong adjunct flavor typical of pale lagers. Maybe a hint of gently bitter hops in the finish, but otherwise, this beer is dominated by honeyed bread. Very smooth finish, but the lack of balancing bitterness to clean things up makes this a less-than-refreshing pale lager. Light-medium weight on the palate, mostly from the sweetness, but also very smooth and creamy. Despite the voluminous head, the beer is very gently carbonated.. While the initial pour was very heady and slightly hazy, the haze diminishes as the beer warms up. Pale straw in color, the body is capped by a very tall, bubbly, white head that occupies at least the top three inches before slowly fading to a wide ring. Consequently, a bit of ringed lace appears near the top of the glass. Overall, highly atypical profile for a pale lager, accentuating sweetness, but thankfully lacking that strong, adjunct quality. And also, I had a second bottle that I kept in the freezer too long and the beer started to freeze. Gotta say that Kingfisher makes for a great beer slushee!

Bottle. Golden, small and fully diminishing head. Light, malty and lightly sweetish aroma, faint grassy hoppyness. Body is light, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some cardboard and metal. Finish is short, malty and lightly sweetish, cardboard and metal. Not very enjoyable.

Lagerboy (420) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 30, 2012
Green bomber. Clear lager yellow, big foaming white head settles and fades. Seaside aroma, tide out. Bready sour citrusy taste, greasy and oily (must be the water in India) . Lively carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Fowl finish (pun intended). Indian industrial swill. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

I’m surprised this has been rated so highly... when you crack open one of these, you’ll find a rainbow of oil on the top... you’ll get to feel the effects the next morning, even if you’ve only had one. Tastes terrible, too. Avoid at all costs.

It’s got the nice level of skunkiness that you want from a good lager. It’s not great, but it’s decent.

2.2 might be a tad on the high side for this mediocre beer. Reminsd me of a local brew, not a microbrew but a regional beer from the 60’s. Something my my dad and his buddies might drink. Hmm...Falls City beer only a little better.

Tried this at an Indian restaurant. I nice simple lager pilsner style beer with thicker mouth feel. I feel it is a pinch too heavy as a food pairing beer.

Goes mighty fine with curry. Sort of thicker mouth feels a bit out of place. If I could find it at beer store i would buy it.

At restaurant in Delhi. Clear bright yellow color with white foam head. Bit caarbonated. Good normal pilsener taste and with the temperatures outside a good drink. Hope they used clean water. (New Dehli 201202)
