BeerBiker (1159), Odense, Denmark Dec 14, 2006 [Sampled at various places at the subcontinent, all the way from New Delhi to Kovalam Beach, Kerala, South India]
Memories is brought to my mind and I have to give this beer some credit for the best travels in my life. Indeed this beer is just mainstream, but as with many objects in India, you’ll like it later on anyway. It’s the beer to be sampled at indian restaurents if they have no IPAs. labattblueleaf (225), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jan 15, 2002 Good beer. Slightly skunky, especially in the smell. I plan on buying more of this. I like the logo as well. LuckeyHaskins99 (180), Toledo, Ohio, USA Feb 16, 2002 Wow! Was I impressed with this stuff.... It’s like a malted milk ball that tastes like beer, stiff foam, big malty taste (Did I say malty) and originally made in.... India? Apparently this is one of those ’under the authority of... blah-blah-blah’ deals so it’s actually made in Saratoga Springs, NY, or at least the American stuff is...
For some reason this seems like the stuff drunk a century ago, I can see guys raising glasses of it and doing the whole ’drinking song’ thing.
Made me belch a lot... malty belches!
cazort (340), San Diego, California, USA Jul 23, 2005 Updated: May 23, 2007From reading other peoples’ descriptions I find it hard to believe I was consuming the same beer, although I saw it come out of the bottle. This one was certainly a lot better than I was expecting of a "best-seller" (usually that’s a codename for bland). This beer struck me as comparable to many of the German pilseners, and very similar: rich and complex grain taste. Very bitter and hoppy--good hop flavour. Generally flavourful and complex. Not heavy and not sweet. Almost too yeasty. From taste alone I would not have guessed this to be a mass-produced beer. Choke (96), Massachusetts, USA Apr 1, 2003 i though this was a very good beer, little head, good taste, not to much of a bitter after taste like i expected,,,,but $9.00 a six pac...i dont think so
