3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Moderately spicy aroma and flavour, citrus (= lemongrass) is there of course. Light bodied, refreshing.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A beer from a brewpub based in a small town in rural Suffolk, which rarely distributes its beers more widely. This one is flavoured with lemon grass but, in common with a number of other beers at this festival, it had a rather intrusive level of sulphur on the nose, which masked out any delicate nuances of aroma. The lemon grass was very difficult to detect in the flavour and, although I noted a very subtle spicy citric undertone, I’m sure I wouldn’t have put that down to lemon grass had I not already known that it was used as a flavouring. Perfectly drinkable, but a touch too understated for its own good. Cask (gravity dispense), Ipswich Beer Festival.
