6th December 2011 Cask at Pigs Ear. Clear dark brown beer. Little pale tan head. Light dry palate. Very dry! Bitterish but mild dark malt with a trace of smoke. Some hop bitterness. All a bit light for a stout and too dry but okay.

Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, raosted - burnt malt, dark malt, dusty, keller. Initial flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter, finish flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, burnt dark malt - roasted malt, keller, cewer notes. Bottle. Black in colour with a great crusty brown head. Clings to the glass. Roasted flavour, a little thin but very pleasant. Bitter, but a change not to have a stout that wasn’t too sweet. Dry stout and enjoyable.

Bottle. Black and poured with a big head. Very lively upon pouring and started with a slight bitterness. Traces of burnt maltiness. A pleasant stout.

Bottled from Corks, Bristol. Near black, with a long-lasting, off-white head. Plenty of coffee in the aroma. Very smooth drinking with with flavours of raisins, dark chocolate and roasted notes. A long dry finish to a very good bottled beer.

Bottled (thanks omhper). Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is slightly roasted malts and some licorace. Flavour is roasted malts and slight hoppyness. Aftertaste is dry hops and some sweet malts.

BCA (From Bitter Virtue, BB Jul 07). Dry roastyness with liquorice. Dry biscuity malt flavours and pleasantly full earthy hops and hints of blackcurranty fruit. Very drinkable with a pleasant combination of hoppy and roasty bitterness in the finish. Very good for a UK BCA.

(Bottle, thanks omhper) Pours dark brown to black. Medium roasted aroma with liquorice, coffee and juicy dark bread. Roasted flavour with notes of liquorice. A bit salty and lightly burned. Rather smoth mouthfeel. Medium body.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2007 Bottled. Almost black, creamy head. Coffee is obvious in the nose. Dryish and buttery with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Richly malty, almost meaty with lingering bitterness and notes of tobacco. A good, well balanced stout. Kingstone is an excellent brewer!
