On cask tap @ Nabokjelleren, Bergen. Slightly hazy copper body with medium, enduring off-white head. Nose is roasted malts with hints of hazelnuts and caramel. Taste is sweet caramel malts with some roastiness. Very low carbonation, even for a cask tap. Some floral hints in the aftertaste. An OK Xmas ale, but not too impressive.

Gusher. Huge beige head. Hazy reddish amber body with strong carbonation and small floaties. Earthy spicy aroma is sort of flat. Dry-sweetish roasty earthy chocolatey taste with fruity resiny notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, faintly oily mouthfeel. Dry roasty nutty spicy aftertaste with earthy chocolate notes and faint mealy coffee grounds. Nice, but unspectacular. (0.75l bottle, Fenaknoken, Oslo. Batch #42.)

75 cl bottle at home - bought at Vaaland, Bryne. Brygg nr. 42. Brown, mahogny color. Big, foamy, beige color. The beer comes out of the bottle some seconds after opening. Aroma is caramel malt, fruit, some spices. Flavor is more than medium sweet, low bitterness, some fruit and roasted malt. Fine carbonation and fine balance.

Aroma; Some chocolate, coffee, also some christmas spices; cinnamon and allspice Flavour; Same as the nose, but not that focused.. Focus on the cinnomon/coffee notes. Really like the carbonation aswell Summary; I like it, I just wish there was more! I guess the 6,3% version got more kick to it. A good beer, non the less!

750ml bottle, brygg nr.42, from Fenaknoken. Light brown head that stayed well and left spotty lacing to the glass. Partly cloudy, dark-brown body. Aroma displays chocolate and caramel malts. Fine blended taste of brown malts, raisin hints and dusty hops. Rounded bitter sweet tail. Medium bodied. Pity that it is not more widely distributed in Norway. Would have been perfect with our traditional Yuletide food. (at my hotel room in Oslo, 25.11.2010).

Bottle from Fenakroken. Dark brown with a healthy head. Caramel and chocolate aroma. Dry chocolate flavours throughout. A bit watery texture, but overall a very good brown ale.

750 ml bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. Dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Fairly nice aroma, moderately spicy notes, also notes of brown malts and leather. Flavour of brown malts and brown sugar (without being very sweet), moderate hops. An okay brown ale!

0,75L bottle, courtesy of gunnar. Thanks a lot! A tall fine-bubbled lightly tanned head, upon a near-clear brownish red body. Light ashy, dry caramelly malts on the nose. Some fine spice and fruit notes, and a whiff of earthy and peppery hops. Dry, medium strong malt body. A pleasant flavor of dark unsweetened chocolatey and nutty malts with a light sourish twist. A very light caramel sweetness beneath. Also a mild roastedness. Some earthy and lightly spiced hops in the backbone. Not very full, but balanced and complex. Powdery texture. Lasting malt finish. A very good Brown, and top end Norwegian ’groucery store’ beer.

0,75 l bottle from the brewery, thanks to Kai. Pours lear deep amber with a huge frothy tanned head. Aroma of dark caramel, some spices as well. Taste is minimal sweet, nutty caramel which lingers to the finish. Nice easy drinkable brown beer.
