Bottle, january 9th 2013. Black body, large frothy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and english hops. Taste is roasty with chocolate, sweet. Body is thick enough for a 4,7, with a moderate bitterness, and aftertaste of chocolate and roast. No faults here but not very exciting either.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff des-11: Helt svart (som seg hør og bør) med flott skum som varrer. Aroma av røstet malt, kaffe, litt sjokolade og lakris. en deilig stout som fortjener en reprise når anledningen byr seg.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Glouglouburp (5572) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 6, 2012
In short: A smooth chocolaty cookie. Nice session stout
How: Cask at Cardinal, Stavanger Norway
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: The malty nose is moderately roasted and black cookies. Taste is a thin layer of bakery chocolate over a thick fresh soft cookie, also light notes of vanilla, some cocoa nibs and tobacco leafs. Nourishing body considering the 4.7% and with just enough leafy hops to balance it out. Carbonation was very soft, typical cask carbonation and it seems pretty fitting for this beer. I never had the bottle or regular tap but I thought this cask version I had was very satisfying. A nice cask beer I enjoyed at Cardinal, and I was told by locals that Cardinal is “the place to go in Norway if you enjoy drinking good beer”, and the fact that they specified “drinking” makes me worried about what kind of sick stuff they do with beer over there.

Pours dark with a thick brown head. Nose is nutty, coffee, light chocolate and grass. Taste is lightly sweet and a food amount of bitter, a bit watered down though. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Light body and a long finish.

Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasty. Medium bodied, and quite dry palate. Black colour, with a white head that disappears quite fast. Very good taste, not to challenging, but a fine stout that I pick up from time to time.
