4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
250mL thanks to my Norwegian Secret Santa. Pours deep brown to black in the snifter tulip. Medium, dense tan foam. Thick formation and retention. Nose is sweet prunes, dirty earth, wet swamp, soy. Can’t really get into this aroma. Taste is richer dairy, milk chocolate, heavy mousse and whipping cream. Ooo very yummy. Chocolate silk pie. Excellent hoppy balance. As it warms, off flavors in the nose subside to reveal pue crust, dark chocolate mousse, brown liquor. Wow this baby opens up. Switched glassware from skinny snifter tulip to oversized Southampton RIS snifter. Wow this is smelling great- super rich ganache, dark chocolate mousse, muted bourbon and coconut. Wow. Still smelling sweet with rum baba dessert. A very temperamental beer but the palate is dense and filling. Huge dairy cream character. Taste as it warms becomes richer and richer melted dark chocolate. So bitter and rich. This was an experience!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Served as a sample at Nærbø Ølfestival last year as a exclusive world premiere. Dark as the night with a small brown head that disappears wuite fast due to the high alcohol. Roasty aroma with coffee and chocolate as the main elements. The taste also reveals some leaves, coal and a tiny bit of smoke. Oily texture with low carbonation which really sets the taste in the main seat. A fantastic beer in my opinion, would really recommend to buy this one if you get across it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown with a beige head. The nose is vanilla, boozy oak barrels, fig, and anis. The palette is fig, bourbon wood and vanilla. In the middle is anis and a bit of bitterness. And finishes with chocolate cake and coffee. Almost like a terramasu. Very complex, I would love to see it aged to see how it changes.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
250ml bottle as a perfect dessert following the fish soup at Amundsen Bryggeri & Spiseri. Jet black, bright naked surface. Roasted smell of dark malts providing hints of dark chocolate and liquorice. Dark malts and dark fruits in flavour making it taste like dark marmalade. Rounded, roasted bitterness to the finish with noticeable alcohol. A pleasant dessert (Oslo, 25.05.2012).

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, kindly provided by Palme. Almost black with a somewhat short-lived head. Aroma is intense dark chocolate, vinous, licorice, coffee, roasted grain, cocoa powder, subtle cherries and some brandy that comes across quite boozy, which is unfortunately the major drawback of this beer. Chewy, full mouthfeel and a decidedly burned, bitter taste with a very bitter, mostly earthy, coffeeish licorice aftertaste. I miss at least some faint sweetness to provide the counterbalance. Lack of balance is a major concern here. The whole is bitter, sharp, aggressive and boozy. Actually not bad, though disappointing for an imperial stout. I believe it would have mellowed out at least slightly when left in the cellar for a couple of months more. Well, the label read consume AFTER 2013 and I was just too curious to wait...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
@ Haand festival
Pour with a small off-white head.
Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and booze. Plenty of booze, that is.
Taste is slightly bitter, but all is overpowered by the booze.
Average body and carb.
