Wombata (620) - Kobe, JAPAN - FEB 6, 2016
Bottle with 7/04/2016 drink by date. Aroma: Earthy, herbal and banana. Palate: Full-bodied. Flavor: Caramel, Big dried fruit--orange, mango, maybe berry and banana and later orange on the finish. Comment: I wonder if the banana character is intentional. Sweet attack is quickly toned down some by the bitter hop. Very concentrated malt. I didnít expect this from a Japanese brewer. Like a double IPA/barley wine blend. The aroma is a bit reserved.

Bottle. Cloudy orange brown pour with a nice white head. Citrus, floral, pine, bread. Medium pour and carbonation. Slight bitterness. Seems light for a 7% but better than many japanese IPAs

Draught at Soul Bird. Sweet caramel mixed up with green hops, not much else, bittersweet finish. Quite bland and unbalanced, hasnít improved at all since last time I tried it.

330ml bottle pours out a copper color topped with a tan sand head. Nose is old cereal malts and and a touch of grassy hop. Taste is pretty much all malts and a tad of hoppy bitterness on the end.

33 cl bottle at Ji Biru in Singapore. Too heavy (7.4% in true life) for a simple IPA, English or American, so flawed. Bitter-sweet approach and finish. Rammed with grain. Tangy at the back. Oooooooooooooh, all to complicated.

Kinshachi IPA on tap at Craft Beer Man - I was sure Iíd rated it before. A clear ruddy red pour with a thick beige head and a woodsy one bark like aroma. Medium-light bodied with an earthy pine bark bite and some residual sweetness in the finish. Quite nice.

Bottle. Citrusy hop nose, with some graininess, and bird seed. Hazy copper/orange color. very thick initial head. Citrus hop (again), big caramel, which all balnces and then flattens out pretty fast. Light hop coating in finish. Medium body. Flavors donít develop much. The hop and caramel clump together at the outset and donít really go anywhere after that. Okay.

330 ml bottle from Takashimaya basement, Nagoya station. Pours with a nice top, color hazy copper. Aroma is not very hoppy, more like sweet toffee, malts, caramelized sugar. Taste resembles IPA a bit more but not completely. Sweetness shadows the alcohol content, hop bitterness comes out in the aftertaste. Feels creamy. Overall, not really an IPA as I know them, a bit too sweet, but I am happy I decided to try this.

Hypo_Luxa (59) - Osaka, JAPAN - SEP 26, 2013
On tap at Bubble Craft in Osaka, Japan. Aroma is resin, doughy and a bit eggy. Poured well. Small brown head, med size bubbles that died quickly. Metallic, copper, pennies, medium bitterness that is all on the tongue and sticks around longer than it should. thin feel, soft carbonation, astringent,
