Bottle from my wifes relative in Nagoya, Japan. A dark amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Fruity, caramel aroma. Tastes fruity, caramel, malty and yet very Japanese. Couldn’t really detect the red miso though. An interesting brew that is quite hard to describe, enjoyable nevertheless.

330ml bottle. Copper resin colour with a flat layer of light brown foam. Nutty biscuit malt aroma with a similar taste. Very flavoursome and leaves a long aftertaste in the mouth. Nice.

Tasty and with a light fragrant. Start with a light touch of sweet Miso that is overwhelmed by bitterness over growing.

Medium tan head. Hazy opaque black body with ongoing carbonation. Fruity red beans aroma with toffee and caramel pudding notes. Dry-sweet toffee and rice pudding taste with grassy notes. Fullish body. Mild, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish fruity soy sauce aftertaste with licorice and alcohol notes. Nice, unusual, and harmonic. Very drinkable. (0.33l bottle, JR Takashimaya, Nagoya.)

Melon, cherry, chocolate, berries (strawberry) and a sweet dry aftertaste. Very enjoyable. There is a miso flavour in the back but its subtle.

Pours murky brown with a large lasting creamy head and big chunks of sediment. Nose shows loads of rich malt. Lots of caramel, prunes, figs, caramelised apples, treacle and a big melanoidin character. Similarly malty flavours, lots more of the above fruit and caramel, almost candy-like. Also a savoury character shows along with some soft alcohol. Finishes weakly though with a hint of cardboard. Nice med-high carbonation suits the beer well.

Bottle at the Japanese Craft beer tasting at the White Horse. It pours hazy dark amber, with red highlights, low carbonation and a foamy beige head. The nose is varnish, sweet caramel, marzipan, plum, Crème brulée, fig, salt and brown sugar. The taste is seaweed, melon, marmite, tart cherry, chocolate, peppered beef jerky, wood, ripe strawberry and a little alcohol warmth. Wow this is a very interesting brew! It is all about the umami.

Bottle at the White Horse. Big thanks to Doug, Jamie and Mark for arranging, facilitating and serving. Cheers Guys! Hazy red-amber beer. Big pale tan head which tastes sweet - cream with sugary bubblegum come red fruits come sweet red beans thing going on. Reminded me a little of some of those crazy Japanese Kit Kats. The beer is semi crisp with light carbonation. Sweet tangy vibrant generic fruits with cream and mild bubblegum in the background. Tiny bit of sherbet. An enigmatic beer full of flavour but hard to pin down. Who cares? Tastes great!

Bottle. Pours a darkish brown amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty slightly bready aroma. Sweetish malty miso soup flavor. Has a sweetish malty miso finish.

Bottle 330ml. Excellent beer. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, and a hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long length. Palate is creamy, with a medium-to-full body. Brown, with a frothy white head.
