@ GJBF 2007. Reminds me of a weizen, but with something added...like miso (I guess). Banana and sweet malts, with some yeast. Spices are noticeable in the flavor, but the miso adds something I’ve never experianced before. Really interesting. Not bad, actually.

Medium tan head. Hazy opaque black body with ongoing carbonation. Fruity red beans aroma with toffee and caramel pudding notes. Dry-sweet toffee and rice pudding taste with grassy notes. Fullish body. Mild, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish fruity soy sauce aftertaste with licorice and alcohol notes. Nice, unusual, and harmonic. Very drinkable. (0.33l bottle, JR Takashimaya, Nagoya.)

Good appearance, smooth lasting beige head. Smells like not a lot but tastes with plenty of malt back bone and interesting flavour. Dark chocolate, soy, bread. Well balanced palate and carbonation but not a lot lasting after a mouthful. Good beer, very drinkable and suited to many Japanese dishes.

<i>Bottled (6%). </i> Clear mahogany colour, no head. Nutty caramelly nose. Medium sweet with dense, clean mouthfeel and medium body. Ligh t bitterness with unusual spices.

Slightly oloudy dark copper. No head. Aroma is raisin bread, caramel, malt and herbs. Flavor is caramel, toasted malt, herbs, miso, seaweed, fruits and residual sugar. Light body with a slightly visquous mouthfeel.

Tasted @ GJBF Yokohama: Light salty sweet malty flavor, some pale light malts and subtle hop flavor, not much miso, rust in the tail.

Bottle. Pours a darkish brown amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty slightly bready aroma. Sweetish malty miso soup flavor. Has a sweetish malty miso finish.

Appearance: Mildly hazed amber brew with lighter ring of head..
Nose: Caramel malts , sweet candy top , slight herbal feel.
Flavor/Palate : mid bodied. Thicker texture up front , slightly chewy over all. Malty with more of caramel. Slight alcohol at finish.Fine.

33cl brown bottle. A clear dark ruby-brown beer with a loose rapidly dissipating tan head. Light aromas of sweet caramel malts and little else. Flavour is lightly roasted sweet malts with hints of dark fruits and very subtle miso soup. Softly carbonated with thin texture and light-medium body. Not as sweet as I was expecting. Rather lacks the wow factor given how expensive it is.
