2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tallboy, bought at 7-eleven cross from Holiday Inn Express SoHo Hong Kong. Pours a rich yellow color. with much fanfare of a white head that disppears before you’re ready to take the first sip. Aroma ihas good bitterness but a corn malt backbone. Flavor is decidedly bitter and rescinding metallic.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can from Lawson. Clear golden pour with a nice white head. Grain, wheat, soap. Light to medium body with nice carbonation. Seems less bitter than when this first came out many years ago. It has a sweet malty/grainy taste vs the bitter name

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can from Lawsons.
Aroma: Floral & earthy hops, lightly roasted grain with some "pear"-like malt sweetness
Flavor: roasted grain, bitterness and clean, light-malt sweetness go back and forth on the mid-palate, finishes slightly bitter.
Comment: With more malt, the perceived bitterness seems a bit toned down on the finish compared to Kirin’s regular line up. Still the carbonation and bitterness gang up on the tongue on the front end. I remember this being a bit better in the past. . . .

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2015 2014: A good annual offering available for only about 2-4 weeks in August and September each year. The 2014 variety feels a little less polished than previous years’ attempts.
2015: Pours a sexy color and holds up as a solid beer drinking experience with the malt flavoring and higher alcohol. That said, maybe it tastes a little riper than previous years.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2014 roasty, smoke, golden, clear, white foam, light sweetness, light body, sticky. Nice sweetness to the nose, which somehow does seem to evoke "autumn" flavors. Somewhat deceptive however, as the body is so light it’s difficult discern the flavor nuances hinted at by the aroma.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Can. 2013 version. I got peppery, spicy malt over a lively body. Strange metallic taste that lingered also. Alcohol well hidden, but conversely the added ingredients dampened the overall feel. What started as a solid bitter lager eventually fell into an abyss of starchy, spicy, over-carbonated mess.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Golden, light yellow body and a white head. Sweet aroma with cookie dough and some citrus. Mouthfeel is watery and the taste is also kinda weak. It’s pretty much what you would expect from an average lager.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
500 ml can bought at 7-Eleven in Metropolis Plaza, Sheung Shui.
Two-finger head and crumpety white foam which last for 1 minute; Small sticky lacing lacing and active carbonation; Strong sweet smell of lager malt, with rice, bread, very light wet cardboard and strawy grass; Medium sweet taste of malt, with rice, light bread, corn syrup, light wet cardboard, light liquorices, light alcohol, moderate citrus, and strong straw; Mid to Light body, thin with slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is a close to pretty rich body, somewhere in between a strong pale and premium lager. Strong and fairly chemical sweet corn syrup and light booze dominates, like a scaled down Euro super strength. Booze is light and testable, with knock-on come after 5 minutes. Typically cheap one for a 6% strong pale;
Hoppiness is surprisingly strong in strawy nose, notable taste in liquorices, citrus and very strong straw, but bitterness and astringency peters oout very fast for a hollow finish; Slightly dry after taste, quite sweet and boozy to mouth.
Comments: This is more like a powered-down version of Euro malt liquor: strong malty body and taste, very notable but not too overbearing adjuncts, and quick boozy knock-on, with some pretty nasty strawy hoppiness to boost. Not as bad as I feared, but still too sweet and chemical for me to like it. Once is enough.
