1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
500 ml can bought at 7-Eleven in Metropolis Plaza in Sheung Shui.
Golden yellow colour; Less than one-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds; moderate sticky lacing and notable slight carbonation; Very pungent smell of malt as soon as it was popped, with soaked urinal, corn, grains, faint floral, bread, light yeast, lemon and smelly grass; Close to light sweet taste of light malt, with strong rice, light sourness, very light wet cardboard, light bread, biscuits, lemon, quite strong bitter hops and grass; Close to Light body, thin, bitter and quite sour palate; Mouth feel is adjunct-thinned macro Pale: light maltyness is quite good, rice is strong but smooth, wet paper is slight. Fair breadyness and strong hops, yet the unwanted sour taste (possibly infected) ruins it all. Doh!Ö Hoppiness is faint floral, strong lemon and male toilet grass in nose. Very strong lemon, quite strong bitter hops and grass taste. Bitterness is really strong, almost German Pils level for a lasting, really astringent finish; Fairly dry after taste, Bitter and sour to mouth.
Comments: An re-enactment of Kirinís old-style release, but it all went horribly wrong: pungent toilet grass smell, rice-crazy body, wet paper, infected sourness, and very harsh hopppiness. Modern drain pours from a bygone era. Geeees!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50 cl can from a 7-11 in Hong Kong. Yellow color, average white head. Aroma is pretty good, actually a real lager, grainy with a proper hops balance. Taste sweetish with a decent bitter finish, light bodied and highly carbonated, similar to average EU lagers, and hence being a 4.5 it does have some flavour.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
słaby ale czysty chmielowy (ziołowy) zapach. kolor jasnego złota, średnio obfita, trwała piana. w smaku půłpełne, z nutami słodowymi i lekką kukurydzą. cały smak dominuje wysoka, ściągająca goryczka ktůra długo pozostaje w ustach. zdecydowanie ciekawsze niż większość piw z tego segmentu.

Draught at Sugano. Basic lager with touch of sweetness. Nothing amazing but served in large 16 ounce glass.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can. Thought I had rated this, perhaps the new retro can design tricked me. Not too shabby for a macro. Nothing extraordinary on the nose or palate, but doesn't do too much wrong either. Rice, some sweet malt, and brown bread. Crisp enough finish. Well balanced, solid effort.

I was not a fan of this, very bitter and rice flavored with a very carbonated yet light feel

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can. I buy this at the convenient store, thinking, "Yeah, thatís one I havenít rated for some reason." Then I start worrying that I have and if so I donít want it. Well I havenít. Drank it several times I suppose over the years, but not in a few. Letís see how it goes. Malty nose with cereals and pretty nice hops--grass and citrus too. Nothing special, but ok start. Look ok, deep gold with a medium, fine head. Flavor is grainy and the adjuncts start kicking in, but there is rich malt flavor and still decent hops. A touch of lemon, decent bitterness. This is said to be hoppier and bitterer than the regular Kirin Lager, and it is. Definitely better. Actually, it might be the best of the adjunct beers made by the big 4 in Japan. Actually quite drinkable--something I would choose out of the cooler, though probably will never need to buy again.
