Draught at Sugano. Basic lager with touch of sweetness. Nothing amazing but served in large 16 ounce glass.

Can. Thought I had rated this, perhaps the new retro can design tricked me. Not too shabby for a macro. Nothing extraordinary on the nose or palate, but doesn't do too much wrong either. Rice, some sweet malt, and brown bread. Crisp enough finish. Well balanced, solid effort. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was not a fan of this, very bitter and rice flavored with a very carbonated yet light feel

Can. I buy this at the convenient store, thinking, "Yeah, thatís one I havenít rated for some reason." Then I start worrying that I have and if so I donít want it. Well I havenít. Drank it several times I suppose over the years, but not in a few. Letís see how it goes. Malty nose with cereals and pretty nice hops--grass and citrus too. Nothing special, but ok start. Look ok, deep gold with a medium, fine head. Flavor is grainy and the adjuncts start kicking in, but there is rich malt flavor and still decent hops. A touch of lemon, decent bitterness. This is said to be hoppier and bitterer than the regular Kirin Lager, and it is. Definitely better. Actually, it might be the best of the adjunct beers made by the big 4 in Japan. Actually quite drinkable--something I would choose out of the cooler, though probably will never need to buy again.

Bottle. Nice label. Clear golden color, large fluffy white head. Aroma of white pepper and straw. Taste is bitter lager.

Had this in Tokyo. Was expecting Ichiban or the like but it isnít as flavourful. Lighter than Ichiban. Slight citrus and malt, a little frothy. Overall not bad , but not as good as many other Japanese lagers. The fact that it is 4.5 means more of these can be drunk with your Yakitori.

4.5% gold colour with a very thin head, slightly sweet malt aroma, slightly sweet lager taste.

Can. Fairly deep stinky hop, some grass, too. Clear pretty straw color, light creamy white head. Balanced initial, grass and mild hopping; mid gets a little bland and sweetish; final is smooth and lightly sweet. Thin-medium body. Not so bad, really. More full-flavored and full-bodied than Ichiban Shibori or the regular Kirin lager. Better than expected from a beer that contains rice, corn, and starch.

A lot better than ratings would suggest. Decent bodied pils with a solid flowery grassy finish. Nothing amazing, but Iíll drink this over Super Dry any day of the week - it actually has a bit of character for a major.
