2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
$2 bottles at adowntown Chicago restaurant--it must be cheap. It tastes that way. Sweet yellow, somewhat more-ish and a decent antidote to spicy Japanese food. Not a good beer but in the moment, with others buying the same beer, it was fine enough. Bottle.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
33cl bottle at home from Balazs as as a gift, many thanks! Body is clear pale, head is small white mostly diminishing good lacing. Nose is malty flavor is light honey, malt. Medium sweet light bitter. Finish is average lager, light hops, watery. Light body, thin texture, average carbonation. Very boring.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
My notes for regular Kirin apply but for the fact is is a shade darker and carries some residual sweetness that isn’t in the usual release. A bit of a find here in New Zealand though.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tasted as Kirin Ichiban Premium Press, "beer at its purest" (raising questions of how well Japan has understood European beer traditions so far...). Standard pale lager with a complicated pedigree: apparently made for the European branch of a Japanese beer company, brewed in Europe (the bottle says Weihenstephan). Pure golden colour, cristal clear with some protein particles floating around here and there, low sparkling, under a sticky, snow white, medium head, slowly thinning. Aroma of sourdough, cooked rice, straw, damp cloth, quite a lot of iron, white bread and unfinished dishes, not very inviting. Taste begins very neutral, like mineral water, with medium carbonation; then becoming sourishly grainy, with a faint pale malt sweetness in the background, rice, metallic, ending in a thin finish which reveals a certain amount of leafy hop bitterishness, which cannot prevent it from ending rather watery. Typical pale standard lager with an Asian twist.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
330ml bottle brewed by Wells and Young, UK, but seemed like the best pace to put the rate. Pours clear pale gold, thick white head. Cooked corn aromas, light straw. Taste is light sweet, touch of rice maybe. Clean finish. Pretty standard stuff.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Very unexciting Japanese pale lager. Nothing special about this except for maybe the slightly metallic finish.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Just another lager, some maltiness is present, but otherwise nothing much to write homeabout as they say.

1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Poured from 355mL bottle. Clear, pale yellow with almost no white head. Grainy corn aroma. Same flavour with touch of sweet malt. Very offish metallic finish.
