The smell put me off this beer before I tasted it. Yet the fine yellowy gold appearance enticed me enough to go ahead and taste it. The most distinctive quality of this beer, to me, is the gentleness in the mouth.

FInally a "Premium Lager" that actually lives up to it's name. Pours a dark yellowish body with a thin white head. Lots of nice carbonation present. Aroms is of candy and apples. Taste is citrusy, sweet, and reminds me of a white wine. Finishes like a wine as well, except for the carbonation, which makes this nice and crisp. Well done! A great lager.

Pale color, a bit darker than a pils. Dry taste with hops aroma striving valiantly to rise above adjuncts.

Had this with Japanese food. Poured pale yellow. Aroma of adjuncts and some hops. Not very good. Finishes slightly sour and metallic. Pass on this.

Tastes like shit, looks like shit, smells like shit. Do you get where i am going from here? One of the worst beers i have ever had. I would rather drink a skunky 40oz then this stuff

Amber with a weak white head. Downhill from there. Nothing remarkable about the aroma or the body or the taste. On a par with a Bud or Bud Lite. Totally unimpressive.

Bottled: My favorite beer to accompany sushi. Clean, crisp, good carbonation. Flavor is not exceptional but a slight sweet malt presence is detectable. For the purpose I use it, Ichiban is solid, palate-cleansing beer.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
(Draft) Pale golden body with a minimal white foamy head. Malty, metallic, adjunt-addled aroma. Flavor is not as bad as I was expecting, but it is not so great either. The hop bitterness is very subdued. Crisp light and fizzy body. Overall not too bad compared to others in this same vein.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is malty, grassy and skunk. Flavor, although minimal, is slightly sweet and grassy. Hop bitterness is totaly lacking. Body is watery and overcarbonated. Nothing to offend, but nothing to please, either.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Dark golden and clear with a small white head that quickly fell to a flat smooth surface. Aroma is a bit pungent, with prominent malts, touch of hops and a bit of skunk. Flavor is bigger than most beers brewed by AB (this one under license of Kirin in LA), with a lot of hop bite along with some spiciness and soap. Light body and assertive carbonation.
