Finest barley malt, premium hops, smooth finish, no bitter aftertaste.

Didnít know what to make of this one, talk about parched..... I need a glass of water!! Poured a brilliant gold, with effervescent bubbles holding up a decent white head, with good lacing. Aroma was subtle, rice wine, apples and bitter hops. In the mouth, it tasted like I imagine a rusting car body would taste, only dry, crisp and weirdly refreshing. Subdued, but unusual. Not for my liking, but has itís place.

Japanese Beer is sexy. And this is the best Japanese beer Iíve tried yet. Itís got a more complex flavor than Sapporo for the same amount of money.

Pours clear and golden with no head. Aroma is light malt. Flavor is malty with slight hops flavor. Drinks like most American cheap beer, until I drop a shot of saki into it and get hammered. For 3 bucks during happy hour we have a damn good time with these 22oz bottles and sides of saki. Long live saki bombers and good asian food!

Not a bad color to this golden pale lage, especially when it sits side by side with a macro. Still, it jsut looks watery, with no head and a crystal clear body. Aromas are grass and barley. Flavors are somewhat the same, with lots of grains and no hops or malt to speak of. Body is smooth, but unremarkable.

Pours a pale gold color with a small head. Starts bland and finishes bland with only the slightest of taste. Not only is there no aftertaste, there is no taste to speak of. A very mediocre beer.

According to the bottle, "Kirin is the name of an ancient mythical beast, which foretells the coming of festive and joyful events. When the Kirin appears, good fortune and good beer soon follow." I guess I had the good fortune to buy just one bottle of this. Iím still waiting for the good beer to follow. Poured a pale gold colour with a rocky 1.5cm white head. Lively carbonation - big champagne-like bubbles. Light citrusy hop aroma. Maybe some melon characters. Nothing especially inviting. Thin body with some hoppy dryness in the finish but precious little else going on. A little barley malt in the middle perhaps. Rather astringent finish. Fine with food, otherwise keep searching. Marketed as Kirinís "Premium Reserve Beer". (Bottle, Best Before June 1 2005)

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2005 Itís yellow, with a head like the one in your toilet bowel after pissing into it from standing on top of a ladder. (Big bubbles dissipating fast.) Smells like the inside of your kitchen garbage can, and beer. Taste is bad, little hoppy and with astringency comparable to hairspray. Shameful. If buy this, youvíe made a bad choice. If you drink it, youííll be sorry.

Standing on itís own, not a very remarkable brew. Moderately malty flavor with a nice bit of a bite of hops. Kind of a metallic aftertaste. But goes really well with sushi and sashimi of all kinds.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2008 RE-RATE - poured from bottle 5/2008. Astringent aroma with malt. Dark for a pale lager, head disappears. Some malt, hardly any hops in flavor. slightly metallic aftertaste. Bubbly feel. Finish disappoints. There are better choices in this category.

Flat and grainy. Hard to get interested in this. Dull as dishwater except for the cool dragon on the label.
